Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

This archetype was inspired by the Destiny 2 subclass, the Sunbreaker Titan.

A greater power has bestowed a light within you, granting you abilities to vanquish any evil or darkness that lays on the land. This light grants the power of fire and as you grow, so does your inner flame.

Hammer of Sol

Starting at level 3 when you have chosen this subclass, you can harness your inner light, taking on a Light Form as a bonus action. You emanate an orange aura and all weapons and shields you have on you disappear and a flaming hammer is summoned in a free hand. This hammer has the throwing property with a range of 30/120 and deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage + fire damage equal to proficiency bonus. The bludgeoning damage increases to 1d8 at level 9 and to 1d10 at level 15. You are considered proficient with this hammer.

While in this form, you have resistance to fire damage. When the hammer is thrown, whether its a hit or miss, it disappears immediately and reappears in your hand. You can’t be disarmed of the hammer as long as you are in this form.

This form lasts for 1 minute or when you become unconscious. You can choose to end this form early as a bonus action. Once you have used this feature, you cant use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Improved Hammer of Sol

Starting at 7th level, each time you enter your Light Form, choose one effect to apply to your Hammer of Sol.

  • When you hit a creature with your hammer, the hammer explodes dealing fire damage to all other creatures within 5 feet of the creature that was hit. This damage is equal to your proficiency bonus and you are immune to this damage.
  • When you hit a creature with your hammer, a sunspot is created in that space. Any creature starting their turn in that space or enters the space, takes fire damage equal to your proficiency bonus. You are immune to this damage. When you are in a sunspot, the bonus fire damage you deal is doubled. All sunspots last until you leave your Light Form.

Solar Defense

Your light makes you even stronger.

Starting at level 10, while you are not in your Light Form, you have resistance to fire damage. When you reach level 18, you become immune to fire damage when you are in and out of your Light Form.

Barricade

Sunbreakers are more than just attack. Your light grants you even defensive capabilities.

Starting at level 15, you have learned to summon a small wall of force. You can use your action to create a barricade of magic energy that is 15 feet wide and 8 feet high directly in front of you. The barricade exists for 1 minute, or until its hit points reach 0. A creature can choose to target it directly with attacks and it has an AC of 5 and hit points equal to your fighter level times 4. Any medium or smaller creature behind the barricade and within its height limit is considered to be in total cover. Large or larger creatures can only gain half cover.

Burning Maul

Starting at level 18, you can choose to summon a burning maul instead of your Hammer of Sol when you enter your Light Form. This maul has the traits of a normal maul and does bonus fire damage equal to your proficiency bonus. You are considered proficient with this weapon.

When you attack with this weapon, you can choose to make one of two special attacks with it.

  • Whirlwind Attack - You make a melee attack against any number of creatures within 5 feet of you, with a separate attack roll for each target.
  • Slam Attack - You slam your hammer down, sending a fire wave in a 5 by 30 feet line, dealing fire damage to any creature along the way. The damage equals to the weapons damage plus your proficiency bonus. Each creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a success, the creature takes half damage.

Heated Strike

Your light makes you strong beyond your Light Form.

Starting at level 3, while you are not in your Light Form, you can choose to add bonus fire damage to a melee weapon attack or unarmed strike equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Strength modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses of this feature after a short or long rest.
