Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of Popular Sovereignty is sworn to the ideals of freedom, individuality, and protection of life and rights. Paladins who swear this oath dedicate themselves to serving the community and becoming beacons of hope and personal expression for society. These paladins are the sworn enemy of tyrants and oppressors, fighting with their entire being for the rights and freedoms of the people that make civilization great. Often, paladins who swear this oath gain a negative reputation, because those whom want power and control tend to be masters of whispers and misinformation.
Tenets of the Oath of Popular Sovereignty
The tenets of the Oath of Popular Sovereignty are set by the declarations and ideals of revolutionary leaders and emphasize the following tenets.
Life. You must protect all forms of life from death, false imprisonment, and tyranny. All lives are sacred and must be protected.
Liberty. You must hold certain truths to be self-evident, that all are created equal, that all are endowed with certain unalienable rights, that among those are the freedom of speech, of religion, of assembly, and to criticize government when necessary, and when government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of all to alter or abolish it.
Pursuit of Happiness. You must be willing to protect opportunities of all to pursue happiness, through their own means, as long as they do not strip rights from others. You must influence all to make decisions for themselves, and through good or bad, endure the consequences and overcome.
Security. You must provide and teach the means for all individuals to defend themselves against any and all forms of tyranny. All have the right to use any and all means to defend themselves, their properties and livelihoods, others, communities, and rights from any aggressors.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Beacon of Hope. As an action, you can imbue one weapon that you are holding with positive energy, using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, you add your Charisma modifier to attack rolls made with that weapon (with a minimum bonus of +1). The weapon also emits bright light in a 60-foot radius and dim light 30 feet beyond that. If the weapon is not already magical, it becomes magical for the duration.
You can end this effect on your turn as part of any other action. If you are no longer holding or carrying this weapon, or if you fall unconscious, this effect ends.
Break the Chains. As an action, you provide hope and strength to those bound by the will of others, using your Channel Divinity. All friendly creatures within 30 feet that are bound by ropes or chain, grappled, charmed, frightened, paralyzed, petrified, or restrained any way, must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a success, each friendly creature is freed of the condition effecting it.

Patriotic Allegiance
Starting at 7th level, when a creature within 5 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to magically substitute your own health for that of the target creature, causing that creature to not take damage. Instead, you take the damage. This damage to you can't be reduced or prevented in any way.
Unalienable Protection
Beginning at 15th level, you are always under the effects of the protection from evil and good spell.
Champion of the People
At 20th level, your presence on the field of battle is an inspiriation to those dedicated to your cause. You can use your action to gain the following benefits for 1 hour:
- You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.
- Your allies have advantage on death saving throws while within 30 feet of you.
- You have advantage on Wisdom saving throws, as do your allies within 30 feet of you.
This ends early if you are incapacitated or die. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
