Base Class: Barbarian
While some barbarians use their emotions or ancestors to give them strength others have just let madness overtake them. Whether by choice or not these barbarians may seem like rambling baffoons, but are just as deadly as the most skilled fighter and far more unpredictable.
I'LL BEAT YOU WITH A STICK
While many people prefer a blade or bludgeoning weapon you are comfortable with anything as long as there is some weight to it. When you take this path at 3rd level you gain proficiency with improvised weapons. As well as you can deal 1d6 damage with said weapons (this is a choice similiar to monks with monk weapons) and this increases to 1d8 at 6th, 1d10 at 10th, and 1d12 at 14th level. The weapons that you can choose this damage with must be at least the size of a standard dagger, but this is up to DM's discrection and if they decide you can beat a man to death with a spoon all the more power to them.
HURT ME MORE SO I CAN GIVE YOU PAIN
Sometimes hitting things isn't enough for you and you want to brutalize them. At 6th level you can tap into your madness and let loose by using your reaction to decide to forgo your rage resistance to an attack (debating on whether or not it matters if damage is for example fire feedback please) you in turn gain 1 madness point(MP) and can hold up to half of your barbarian level in MP (example 6th level can have max of 3 MP). For every MP you have you deal an additional 1d4 damage. There is a catch however every time you have above 1 MP and land a hit you must roll a d20 if you roll your number or higher (example with 5 MP if you roll a 5 or higher) you attack normally, but if you roll less than your MP you hit yourself with damage including madness damage (cannot forgo this resistance for MP). Lose all MP upon rage ending.
Simply put 1mp = 1d4 damage, 2mp = 2d4 damage plus have to roll a 2 or higher if you land the hit in order to not hit yourself, 3mp = 3d4 damage and need to roll a 3 or higher in order to not hit yourself, etc.
BUT I LIKE MY REALITY
You grow comfortable with your own madness and at 12th level while raging you are also immune to fear and take resistance to psychic damage. In addition you have advantage on saving throws versus being sent to another plane (such as banish or plane shift).
I AM THE BIGGEST MONSTER
Your madness has grown to the point you can temporarily warp your own body. At 14th level when in a rage you can use a bonus action to distort your body. This lasts until the end of the current rage and once per long rest.
- You grow to the next size up (small>medium>large>huge>gargantuan)
- You gain temporary hit points equal to your barbarian level
- You can attack an additional time with your attack action
- You also take 2d6 psychic damage upon activation before temp hp
- Upon ending the rage you gain the effect of the confusion spell for 1 minute.
