College of Rhythm (RotW)

This class is designed for the Rhythm of the Warsong campaign setting.

For as long as there have people to walk the grounds of Spokenword, there have been followers of the rhythm. Some say that this rhythm comes from the Warsong itself, a primal force that all life waltzes to, though others say the Warsong is merely outlining the innate rhythm of the world. Regardless of the philosophy you believe in, the influence of the rhythm is undeniable. Arguably, none feel this rhythm stronger than the bards of the world, those who create magic of the arcane flow of music, which is derived from the rhythm itself. Since the Oldtimes when the Notes of the Warsong first scattered across the lands, Composers have sought them out, but none are as efficient or knowledgable as the bards who join the College of Rhythm.

These bards look to seek even deeper power and understanding in the rhythm, becoming masters of the art of Composition, ambitious (often egotistical) adventurers who aim to make the greater composition of the Warsong ever seen. While anyone can be a Composer, no one is more fit than the bards of this college, who often become legendary Maestros and scholars of the Warsong. They learn to fight in rhythm with the world, shape their spells to fit into every invisible beat, and move with the excellence of timeless melodies. Composition may be a dangerous art, but there is certainly beauty in it.

Master of Composition

When you join the College of Rhythm at 3rd level, you become a master of the art of Composition, gaining a variety of benefits when partaking in the art:

• You can compose Notes without the use of a composing knife, instead magically transferring them from surface to surface. This process takes 1 minute per Note and must be done on a willing creature.
• Your maximum rhythm points increases by 1 for every complete measure you have composed upon yourself.
• As an action, you can magically discern the properties of Notes without needed to consult a Maestro or composing it upon yourself.

Rhythmic Inspiration

Also at 3rd level, you learn how to inspire your allies in accordance with the rhythm of the world, making your inspiration much more potent when used correctly. When a creature that has one of your Bardic Inspiration dice uses the die on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, they can roll the die again for every other attack roll, ability check, or saving throw that they make that turn, using the new outcome of the roll each time. At the end of the turn, the Bardic Inspiration die is consumed as normal.

Arcane Chord

Starting at 6th level, you begin to see the relationship between the magic of the weave and the rhythm of the world, granting you a deeper understanding into the flow of the arcane. When a creature that is not hostile to you (excluding yourself), that you can see within 80 feet of you expends a spell slot or expends charge(s) of a magic item to cast a 1st-level or higher spell, you can use your reaction to cast one of your bard spells after the target creature's spell resolves its effects. The maximum level of spell you can cast with this feature is equal to half your proficiency bonus, rounded down, and you still expend the spell slot as normal, following all the usual rules of spellcasting. You cannot cast a cantrip with this feature.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Melodic Step

Starting at 14th level, your physical body becomes so intertwined with the rhythm of the world that you can move to the rhythm of the world, creating beautiful, slick, and melodic movements that are hard to comprehend. When a creature that is not hostile to you (including yourself), that you can see within 80 feet of you ends its turn, you can move up to 5 feet. This movement does not consume your reaction and attacks of opportunity made that result from this movement are rolled with disadvantage.
