Monk
Base Class: Monk

The oldest monk order, practitioners of this way devote their lives to the kami, ancient spirits thought to have created the monastic orders. They are guardians of the natural world, and each watches over a specific aspect of nature. Methods of worship vary, but worshippers of the kami rarely feud, as it is not the way that they are taught.

Servant of the Kami

Starting at 3rd level when you choose this tradition, you devote yourself to one of the kami. You choose one worship option, which grants you features at 3rd and 11th level. You also gain proficiency in the Religion and Nature skills.

Follower of Dosojin

Dosojin is a kami that watches over roads and trails, and wise travelers always remember to seek his assistance before they set off. His worshippers are masters of creating a path forward in any situation.

At 3rd level, his followers are granted Survival proficiency, and cannot become lost unless they have been deceived with magic.

At 11th level, his followers can travel in half the predicted time thanks to magical shortcuts. Additionally, they can cast the Find the Path spell at will.

Follower of Jinushigami

Jinushigami is widely considered to be the most powerful kami. Taking the form of a giant, stone man wielding a massive pillar as his staff, he takes no prisoners in order to defend the land it protects from hostile intrusions.

At 3rd level, his worshippers gain Athletics proficiency, and +1 to their Strength and Constitution scores.

At 11th level, his worshippers gain +1 hit point per level they have gained, or gain in the future.

Follower of Kaminari

Kaminari is the most unpredictable kami, a fierce and boisterous spirit whose ward constitutes all storm clouds in the sky. It is often mistaken for a malevolent demon, and no wonder- it has little patience for any fool attempting to interfere with its weather patterns. Interestingly, it is enamored with music, and produces thunder with its mighty drums.

At 3rd level, its followers are granted Performance proficiency and proficiency with drums, and are also immune to any effects of inclement weather.

At 11th level, its followers are granted the ability to discharge sonic booms with their strikes. When they use their Flurry of Blows feature, they may expend 1 ki point to deal equivalent thunder damage to any bludgeoning damage they deal.

Follower of Kodama

Kodama are small and secretive spirits which protect forests. Curiously, they are one of the only kami which is an entire race, rather than one being. Their form is varied, but usually appears small, with some green element, and never has eyes. Kodama are inquisitive little beings, and one of the most frequent to interact with humans. They will sometimes grant blessings to particularly favored travelers, such as those who plant or defend new trees- these are how many of their devotees came to be.

At 3rd level, their followers are granted Stealth proficiency, and the ability to always find non-poisonous fruit or nuts on trees, enough to eat on long journeys.

At 11th level, their followers are granted the ability to cast the tree stride spell an amount of times equal to their Wisdom modifier per long rest.

Follower of Shikigami

Shikigami are the smallest and weakest kami. They appear as tiny statues, and unlike other kami, guard works of civilization. They live in towns and cities, uplifting the people around them with small acts of kindness. Their presence promotes ideals such as the preservation of nature, so that the kami doesn't become distasteful of its home and leave. In combat, they defend themselves with whatever they have on hand, and have deadly aim with improvised weapons.

At 3rd level, their followers are granted Perception proficiency, and the ability to summon a shikigami familiar. The shikigami has the same stats as a small animated object, except it has 15 Wisdom, 13 Intelligence, and 10 Charisma, and if reduced to 0 HP, it makes an expression of rage and teleports away. You cannot command the shikigami, but it will help when you are in need. It is very good at finding objects.

At 11th level, their followers master improvised weapons. All improvised weapons now benefit from your Martial Arts feature, and you have +1 to hit with them.

Follower of Suijin

Suijin is the kami that rules the waters. It resembles a massive sea serpent, gleaming with rainbow scales. It is good-natured most of the time, but has no tolerance for anyone attempting to harm its domain. It lives in a palace at the bottom of the sea, and only surfaces when the waters are in great danger. Great floods and tsunamis are a sign of this kami's wrath, whereas especially clear water, benevolent rainfall, and rainbows are a signal that Suijin is appeased.

At 3rd level, its followers gain water vehicle proficiency and a swimming speed of 40 ft, and cannot become lost at sea.

At 11th level, its followers can use water to heal. While they or a companion is partially submerged in a natural body of water, they can expend 1 ki point to restore 2d8 hit points to the target.

Follower of Zuishin

Zuishin is a kami whose soul belongs to battle. Its domain is holy sites and shrines dedicated to kami; its divine duty is to defend these sites from malevolent oni, and its followers are tasked with doing the same. Its prowess with its longbow is legendary, and a popular legend states that it once fired an arrow around the whole world and impaled someone standing behind it. It manifests as an elaborate suit of armor filled with holy light. Gaining its blessing to follow is the most difficult, as it is distrustful of humanoids, thinking always that they might be oni in disguise.

At 3rd level, its followers gain longbow proficiency, and longbows count as monk weapons for them.

At 11th level, attacking at long range does not impose disadvantage on its followers' ranged weapon shots. Additionally, they can spend 10 minutes praying to Zuishin and it will imbue up to 15 arrows with heaven's might, causing them to deal an extra d6 radiant damage.

Steward of Creation

At 3rd level, your closeness to the kami grants you a limited ability to heal and shape nature. You learn the druidcraft cantrip.

Cleansing Meditation

At 6th level, you learn a prayer to the kami which restores the world around you to its natural state. As an action, you may sit and enter a quiet meditation, which lasts 3 minutes. You gain 25 temporary hit points, which disappear once your ritual is complete, and cannot be moved by any effect until they are depleted. Once the ritual is complete, you cast the dispel magic spell automatically at 5th level, and stand up. Alternately, you may end the ritual at any time by standing up as an action. You may do this an amount of times per long rest equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Kami's Presence

At 11th level, your patron kami empowers your ki, imbuing it with the essence of nature. You gain the following enhancements:
Flurry of Blows: Your blinding speed bewilders your foes. For one turn, they have disadvantage to hit you.
Patient Defense: You punish the insolence of attempting to strike a kami's ward. You may make one unarmed attack against the originator of a melee attack you dodge.
Step of the Wind: You may instead cast the Misty Step spell.
Deflect Missiles: The kami refuse to allow you to come to harm. The damage is decreased by an additional d10.

One With Nature

At 17th level, you can enter a state of heightened awareness, as the kami touch your mind and fill you with the power of nature. You may enter this state as an action. When you do, your Unarmored Defense grants an additional 5 AC, and you gain access to the infinite pool of ki that the kami possess, which allows you to ignore ki point requirements of any feature.
