Base Class: Rogue
Once, on the brink of death, you forced yourself to get back up again--and succeeded. You still had work to do. And you can't die without seeing it done.
Treading the line between life and death, the Vestige uses supernatural abilities to traverse the world like a ghostly wraith, traverse between the Material and Ethereal Planes, and stubbornly refuse to die when they fall in battle.
Dislocation
Starting at the 3rd level, you can cast the Dislocation cantrip at will.
Dissolving your form into smoke and ash, you teleport up to 15 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
Refusal
As a Vestige, you have a mysterious and atypical relationship with life and death. When you or another creature you can see makes a death saving throw, you can choose to instantly succeed the roll. You must choose to use this ability before the first saving throw is made. The DM can choose to deny your Refusal at their discretion.
When one resists death, it pushes back almost instantaneously. The space between the resistance and retribution is enough to grant once chance to defy Fate itself a prevent a death from happening, but after the first Refusal, Fate wisens up to the trick, and readies itself to prevent it from happening again. When you successfully use Refusal, you will be unable to use it again for the rest of the campaign. Make it count.
Planewalk
Starting at the 9th level, you gain cast the Etherealness spell on yourself. Once you have used this ability, you cannot use it again until completing a long rest.
You gain an additional use of this ability at the 13th level, and again at the 17th level.
Ghostly Shade
Starting at the 13th level, you gain the ability to create magical darkness that spreads from a point of your choosing to fill a 15-foot radius sphere. This feature works similarly to the Darkness spell, but you are also able to sense and have advantage on attack rolls made against any creature within the sphere. Additionally, when you are within the sphere itself, you have Truesight.
Death Ward
By the 17th level, you are able to call upon your supernatural powers almost unconsciously. As a reaction when you take damage, from any source, you can choose to dissolve into smoke, causing the attack to harmlessly pass through you. You can use this feature four times per Long Rest.
The DM can choose to ignore your Death Ward if the damage type could affect you through your transformation, such as by [damage]psychic[/damage] caused by hearing the Vicious Mockery cantrip.
