Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Rising Phoenix learn to focus their ki through the power of the Rising Phoenix.  This monk subclass holds both special damaging effects, that can be devastating, but also the monk learns to use the same Phoenix Light to heal themselves and/or others. Practitioners of the Rising Phoenix balance the natural laws of light, and the mythological power of the Phoenix.

Through years of study, monks of the Rising Phoenix become masters in combat, and healers of the wounded.  Their ki holding powers of both life and death itself.  The Rising Phoenix represents balance, and this is why the power's that focus through the monk's ki are both used for combat and non-combat purposes.

Phoenix Radiant Talon Strikes

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your ki powers your unarmed attacks, delivering radiant powered blows to your enemies. You can spend a ki point to deliver a radiant powered bonus unarmed attack.  Your radiant attacks overcome magic resistance attacks.

Phoenix Healing Light

At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into a healing light.  For each ki point, you can heal yourself, or another, up to your level + Wisdom modifier.  You are limited to using 3 ki points per day.

Phoenix Blaze

At 11th level, you gain the ability to create an orb of light that erupts from you into a devastating explosion. As an action, you magically create an orb around youself that expands out 30 feet, erupting radiant light for a brief but deadly instant.

Each creature in that 20-foot-radius sphere must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 2d6 radiant damage. A creature doesn’t need to make the save if the creature is behind total cover that is opaque.

You can increase the sphere’s damage by spending ki points. Each point you spend, to a maximum of 3, increases the damage by 2d6.  You can use up to 3 ki points on this ability before needing a short or long rest.

Phoenix Wings

At 17th level, you become wreathed in a luminous, magical aura. You can wreath yourself in the Phoenix Light, with the aura of a giant Phoenix rising from you.  This magical aura that sheds bright light in a 30-ft. radius and dim light for an additional 30 ft. Above you a shape comes into being, looking like a rising Phoenix, flying above you.  The Rising Phoenix can be ended on a bonus action alone, or once no combat has occurred for 1 minute (10 rounds).  You can extinguish or restore the light as a bonus action.

If a creature hits you with an unarmed or melee attack, magic or otherwise, while this light shines, they are dealt your Wisdom modifier + 5 radiant damage, you receive no damage from the attack, instead your Phoenix uses the energy from the attack to heal you the same number of hitpoints you'd have taken.  If you are at your maximum HP, the Phoenix will heal the closest teammate of yours within 30 ft.

If a creature hits you with any ranged attack, inside of 30 feet, while this light shines, they are dealt your Wisdom modifier + 5 radiant damage, you receive no damage from the attack, instead your Phoenix uses the energy from the attack to heal you the same number of hitpoints you'd have taken.  If you are at your maximum HP, the Phoenix will heal the closest teammate of yours within 30 ft.

If a creature hits you with any ranged attack, outside of 30 feet, while this light shines, they are dealt no radiant damage.  You still receive no damage from the attack, instead your Phoenix uses the energy from the attack to heal you the same number of hitpoints you'd have taken.  If you are at your maximum HP, the Phoenix will heal the closest teammate of yours within 30 ft.

You can use this power 3 times before needing a short or long rest.
