Monks of the Way of the Undying Spirit are constant practitioners of the rites of Sokushinbutsu. Ascetism taken to the absolute extreme, Undying Spirit Monks slowly whittle their diets down to almost nothingness. This extreme self-discipline combined with naturally powerful Ki, these monks eventually ascend to an existence somewhere between immortality and undeath.

Undying Spirit

At 3rd level, adherents of the Way of the Undying Spirit gain their namesake. The incredible power of their ki will, in time, come to be all that sustains them. Further, their ascetic diets and training regimen has begun to supernaturally harden their bodies.

3rd level Way of the Undying Spirit Monks are immune to Exhaustion. They also gain +1 Natural Armor, and an additional +1 at 6th, 11th, and 17th levels.

Undying Stamina

At 6th level, Monks of the Way of the Undying Spirit become immune to Paralysis, and cannot be Poisoned. (They are still subject to Poison Damage.) Monks of the Way of the Undying Spirit also no longer need to sleep. However, they must not otherwise strain themselves during a short rest or a long rest.

Still Body, Pure Mind

At 11th level, Monks of the Way of the Undying Spirit have further refined their bodies. They Resist Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage, whether it is magical or not. They cannot be Charmed, or Frightened. Their bodies are now so dehydrated that they take no damage from Cold, but are vulnerable to Fire as a result of this dryness. Their bodies are inordinately stable now, and they always roll Death Saving Throws with Advantage. They no longer need to breathe.

Walk the Path

At 17th Level, Monks of the Way of the Undying Spirit have become truly undying.

They become immune to Necrotic Damage. They are no longer subject to Critical Hits.

If a Monk of the Way of the Undying Spirit would drop to 0 HP, they may make a Constitution Saving Throw, DC 5+Damage Taken. If they make this Saving Throw, they are instead only reduced to 1 HP. They always roll Death Saving Throws with Advantage. They do not suffer death saving throw failures from damage. They are not subject to Instant Death.
