Monk
Base Class: Monk

Very few ever have the chance to learn the Way of the Stormfist. Legends tell that these teachings came from a storm giant who learned to master ki and amplify the power of his lightning. It may not surprise you then that those with giant's blood have a natural affinity to this monistic school, however that does not stop other races from controlling this power. Learn to absorb lightning and thunder, use your ki to strike with kinetic power and call upon the storm to aid you, this class is built for those who want to move around as fast as lighting and deal tremendous amounts of thunder and lightning damage. Some learn to control and focus their power, while others embrace the chaos of the storm and become consumed by it.

Lore (Up to you whether you want to use it or not):

Long ago, a war between dragon kind and giants raged as each sought to prove dominance over the other. This would be called the 'Thousand Year War' and saw the majority of giants and dragons fall in battle. One of the most proven warriors in this war was a storm giant by the name of Dulmir and he fought in many battles against the dragons. At the end of the war, Dulmir found himself alone, abandoned by his god and his kind all but a fading memory. He sat upon the highest mountain and waited for a sign to signal the return of the giants. For many years he waited, yet no sign or omen came to him, even as the age of man dawned upon the land. One night, a dragon appeared on his mountain and the two fought a bloody and vicious battle, with none seeming closer to victory. It was then that they noticed an old man with a wooden staff calling to them both. The man politely asked them to stop fighting as it was scaring the villagers below. Both beasts, enraged at the man, hurled lighting and spewed fire upon him. When the smoked dissipated, both Dulmir and the dragon were shocked to find that the old man was still there, seemingly untouched, and smiling. Again, the beasts attacked the man with even more fire and lighting, yet once again, the old man stood there without nary a singe to his robes. Dulmir and the dragon continued to attack the man until they both fell from exhaustion. It was then that the old man told both beasts that they could continue to attack him relentlessly, or they could listen to him and he would tell them how he wasn't hurt. The old man began to explain that he was a monk and he taught them both about ki, the natural energy that flows through every living thing and how the power they wielded could be focused into a force for good rather than destruction. Over many years, the old monk taught these two beasts to overcome their primal and dominating nature and instead, focus on meditation and wisdom. Both Dulmir and the dragon began to form their own understanding of ki and saw the futility of constant and everlasting war.

While legends tell that the dragon went on to teach a select few monks, who later on built the Kaviri temples, Dulmir stayed on his mountain and meditated as to not return to his old ways. It is said that those worthy enough to find him may learn Dulmir's monistic way.

Imbued with Lightning

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you imbue yourself with the power of your studies.

You gain resistance to Lightning and Thunder damage. At 9th Level this becomes immunity and at 16th level, lightning and thunder damage heal you for half the damage.

Also when you choose this tradition, you gain the ability to harness the speed of lightning. When you use a Ki point to use the “step of the wind”, you can use another Ki point to double the dash distance.

Kinetic Blow

Starting at Level 6 you gain the ability to focus your electricity into a single blow. For every 10ft you moved this turn you may add 1d4 of lightning damage to your next strike. This costs 3Ki points to do. THIS ONLY WORKS FOR FIRST ATTACK EACH TURN.

Lightning Fast

Starting at Level 11, any reaction attacks against you have disadvantage. If they do attempt to attack you they take your unarmed monk damage die + your wisdom modifier. This will count as lightning damage.

Body of the Storm

Starting at Level 17, your body has harnessed the full potential of the storm. As an action, you can activate this ability to convert your body into a form of lightning. You gain resistance to piercing, bludgeoning and slashing damage. You gain a fly speed = to your movement speed. All your damage is converted to lightning damage. This costs 3 Ki points to activate and last one minute.
