Base Class: Bard
Friendship is the power that lies at the base of all things: force of will, determination, all are possible through the power of heart. This Bardic tradition collects the stories of those who they encounter in order to bolster themselves and allies to new heights, with a range of supportive and skillful benefits. Widely based off of late the "friendship can overcome all obstacles!" trope of characters found within many late 80's early 90's anime and cartoon.
Unbreakable Bonds
The lands a Bard may travel are filled with an assorted cast of characters that make up their lives work; taking their skills to heart, and learning through their footsteps, you can invoke their will in your song. By choosing to spend a whole long rest with an ally in conversation, they may choose to give you an Unbreakable Bond in their name. You can only gain one Unbreakable Bond per long rest. When you do, you must identify a trait of theirs that you want to emulate. This can be:
- Any skill check they’re proficient in,
- Any saving throw they’re proficient in,
- Proficiency with a weapon they're both proficient in and are currently carrying,
- Cast a spell of a school of magic they know.
You can invoke a bond to give yourself a bonus on that skill check, saving throw, weapon attack roll, or spell's attack modifier. By doing so you can spend a Bardic inspiration to instantaneously give yourself that bonus, and if you succeed in your use of it, that ally then gains the spent Bardic Inspiration as if you had given it to them regularly, as long as they’re within 60 feet of you. You can only invoke each Unbreakable Bond once per long rest. You can have as many Unbreakable Bonds as your Charisma Modifier + half your Bard level, they never expire in age since you've last interacted with said person but they may be replaced at will whenever you would gain another.
Call for Aid
You gain proficiency in Medicine and Insight checks; if you already have those, you may pick others.
Whenever an Unbreakably Bonded ally is knocked unconscious within one mile of you, as a reaction action you can instantly know where they are, if they’re in danger, and gain one use the Sending spell to communicate with them— they can respond even if unconscious or influenced by mind-altering effects (such as Charmed or Paralyzed).
Mantle of Friendship
Calling forth all the friends you've made in your journey, you cloak yourself in a veil of all the power your friends and allies granted you. As a Bonus action, you may cast Heroism on yourself without expending a spell slot. After doing so you radiate energy for one minute or until concentration ends, during this time you can cast Heroism as a Bonus action, at a range of 60 feet.
The target gains double the benefits if they’re an Unbreakably Bonded ally.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
A Song to Remember Them By
The bonds you weave, the allies you gather, the highs, lows, and everything in between-- you and your allies have overcome all... And together, across all Worlds End you and your friends will be interwoven by your Bards song. Your Unbreakably Bonded allies receive the benefits of your Bard class features even when outside your range, as long as they’re on the same plane of existence as you and you’ve seen each other once within the past month.
