Base Class: Wizard
The School of Astrologians channel their arcane abilities into enhancing their mental aptitude and protective magical capabilities to protect the boundaries of their plane from foreign threats. Few and far between, they can be identified by their departure from traditional arcane practices, garb and mannerisms; they can commonly be found in far off corners of the world practicing and honing their comprehension of the intertwine betwixt science, nature and the divine. Astrologians prefer their business away from civilisation in order to fully harness the potency of constellations, exploring new depths to this infant school of arcana.
Their study of astronomy and cosmology unearthed what some traditional institutions consider to be a bastardisation of magic; a latent energy, remnant from the celestial planes before their separation from Prime Materia, allows these exclusively rare academics to harness abilities never before seen. Viewed as rank pretenders by the devout, and as compromised philosophers by the wizard community, Astronamncy is a mournfully solitary vocation for the most part.
Yet let it not be said that Astrologians have no place in the world - their unique understanding of symbiotic dependencies between science, nature and space provide a distinct perspective on the world. Their distinct and intuitive aptitude for protection and restorative magic alongside the ability to confront threats of all natures is not to be underestimated.
Astronomer
You gain proficiency in astrologians tools and can accurately navigate using constellations
Astral Familiar
When you choose the path of the Astrologian you are able to call upon the celestial energy of the constellations to summon an ally to aid you. This celestial boosts your ability to heal your allies, deal damage, or prevent harm occurring with different forms which you choose each time you summon it.
You can innately cast the spell Find Familiar as a bonus action to summon an Astral Familiar to aid you. You can do this a limited number of times based on your wizard level. Using the spell in this way cannot be used to summon other familiars.
When summoned, the Astral Familiar has bonus hit points based on your wizard level
In combat, the Astral Familiar shares your initiative count and takes its turn immediately after yours.
Aquiline Form
At 2nd level your Astral Familiar takes the healing Aquiline Form, which grants the following benefits:
Aquiline Aura. At the start of it's turn, all friendly creatures within 15 ft gains a number of temporary hit points based on your wizard level
Essence transfer. If your Astral Chain is active, the radiant damage taken by the targeted creature can be added to the Astral Familiar's heal ability for a creature inside the Aquiline Aura
Astral Chain
Starting at 6th level, you can channel and weave interstellar magic to create a chain of pure astral energy around an enemy. If the targeted creature fails a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC they are restrained. At the start of the creature's turn it takes radiant damage based on your level in this class as long as they are bound by it. The creature is also inhibited from using magic to escape your grasp.
The targeted creature is able to repeat at the end of each of their turns.
Cassiopic Form
At 6th level your Astral Familiar evolves and enhance its capacity to focus the constellations into an offensive magical power. It gains access to the Cassiopic Form which grants the following benefits:
Cassiopic Aura. Your spells deal an extra radiant damage equal to you proffciency bonus
Stellar Cycle. If your Astral Chain is active, the radiant damage taken by the targeted creature can also be added to the bonus damage of the Cassiopic Aura
You choose which of the available forms your familiar takes each time it is summoned, and can only gain these benefits until you re-summon the familiar.
Cosmic Stimulant
Astromancers are well versed in logic and tactical assessment, and as such develop methods to manipulate cosmic energy to enhance their astral familiar when the need arises.
When you reach 10th level in this class, as part of casting a spell that targets only one person or creature you can consume the cosmic energy of your familiar. Doing this extends the effects of the spell to additional creatures, Based on the level of the spell cast.
When you cast a spell of 1st or 2nd level, you can target 2 additional creatures. When using this feature with a spell of 3rd , 4th or 5th level, you can target 1 additional creature.
Once you use this feature, you cannot re-summon your astral familiar for a number of rounds equal to the level of the spell cast
Pyxian Form
At 10th level your Astral Familiar evolves and enhance its capacity to focus the constellations. It gains access to the defensive Pyxian Form. This form grants the following benefits:
Pyxian Aura. Friendly creatures within 15 ft of the astral familiar gain one of the following benefits:
- resistant to physical damage
- resistance to spell damage
(This resistance cannot be changed until you re-summon the Astral Familiar)
Astral Guard. If your Astral Chain is active, the damage taken by the restrained creature can be added to the physical or spell damage resistance for 1 creature inside the Pyxian Aura
You choose which of the available forms your familiar takes each time it is summoned, and can only gain these benefits until you re-summon the familiar.
Astral Sect
The potency of your astral energy becomes honed and focussed, giving your mind and body an uninhibited clarity of mental and reflexive intuition.
When you reach 14th level in this class, while your astral familiar is summoned (in any form), you and a number of creatures up to your intelligence modifier within 20 ft of you have advantage on saving throws against spells.
