Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

An agent of a God sent to deliver penance on those who have blasphemed them. Gifted with a spark of the divine, the Divine Avenger seeks out and punishes those who have spurned their God. Once a suspected heretic has been found, the Divine Avenger calls on their blessings to delve deep into their minds and find the truth of their sin. Serving as judge, jury, and executioner they exact penance in the name of their god as they see fit.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the wizard spell list.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips from the cleric spell list. You learn another cleric cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Divine Avenger Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your cleric spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you prepare the 1st-level spell bane and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast bane using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level cleric spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the cleric spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Divine Avenger Spellcasting table shows when you learn more cleric spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the cleric spells you know with another spell of your choice from the cleric spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your cleric spells. The power of your spells comes from your devotion to your deity. You use your Wisdom whenever a cleric spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a cleric spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Seek the Guilty

At 3rd level, you learn the spell Detect Thoughts. This counts as a cleric spell for you, you always have it prepared, and it does not count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. You can cast the spell a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier (minimum of once). You regain all uses after a long rest. In addition it has the following changes:

  • You can cast this spell as a bonus action instead of an action.
  • On subsequent turns when you attempt to probe deeper or search for thoughts you can use a bonus action instead of an action.
  • You make a wisdom check instead of an intelligence check when contesting a creature attempting to end the spell.

The Wages of Sin

Starting at 9th level, when you search for sin in a creatures mind, you can glean its next thoughts and actions. You gain the following benefits:

  • You can use Wisdom as your modifier when making Intimidation, Deception, or Persuasion skill checks contested by a creature under the influence of your Detect Thoughts
  • When you use the bonus action granted by Seek the Guilty to successfully probe a creatures mind, you gain advantage on attack rolls against them until the end of your turn

Unseen Judgement

Starting at 13th level, if you are hidden from a creature when you cast a spell on it, the creature has disadvantage on any saving throw it makes against the spell this turn.

Holy Retribution

For a short time you can become holy wrath incarnate, taking on the most vengeful aspect of your god. As a bonus action, you gain the following benefits for one minute:

  • When you deal sneak attack damage you can choose to deal radiant or necrotic damage instead.
  • You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
  • There is no limit to the number of time you can benefit from your Sneak Attack each turn, but you can’t use your Sneak Attack against the same target more than once in a turn.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest
