Base Class: Monk
In the Emerald Kingdoms, there is a uniquely powerful discipline of inner focus that enables a powerful usage of Ki to create utterly extraordinary magical effects. While extremely limited in their magical expression, these monks spend their entire lives perfecting one of the four elemental expressions of reality so that they might best understand the fifth expression, that of the power of the void. This power of void is seen as the pure and perfect mastery of the self, and the disciples of the Way of the Five Rings seek to hone their understandings of Ki and magical forces into such a refined state that through their disciplined understanding, they will then come to understand in their perfect usage that which is hidden in the universe.
Inner Wisdom Spellcasting
At 3rd level, Monks who train in this way learn how to channel their mudras, mantras, and Ki to produce magic spells. When you gain this class at 3rd level, choose Ring of Earth, Ring of Fire, Ring of Water, or Ring of Wind. You gain knowledge of all of the spells on the chosen spell list, and you can use the spell slots available for your Monk level to cast those spells. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells and your spell save DC is equal to 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your Proficiency bonus.

Kata Casting
At 6th level, you learn to cast spells in such ways that other spellcasters experience a great deal of difficulty interpreting your spellcasting actions, as you cast using sacred mantras and mudras instead of using traditional spellcasting methods. If another spellcaster would attempt to roll an Intelligence (Arcana) roll to determine the school of the spell you are casting, that spellcaster suffers disadvantage on that roll. Additionally, if another spellcaster would make an ability check as part of a spell that they cast that targets you (such as Counterspell or Dispel Magic), that spellcaster suffers disadvantage on that roll.
Inner Void
At 11th level, you learn the techniques of meditation which restore your spellcasting power. When you take a short rest, you may spend 10 minutes to enter a meditative state, during which you can spend Ki points to recover spell slots, according to the following chart:
Ki Cost Spell Slot Level
3 1
5 2
7 3
9 4
You may use this meditative trance once before you must finish a long rest to use it again.
Master of the Void
At 17th level, you learn the secret to the greater mysteries of the Ring of the Void, which grants you incredible meditative techniques that unlock powerful new spellcasting capabilities within you. You are able to channel your Ki to produce a 5th level spell slot that you may use to cast a 5th level spell from your spell list. You spend 7 ki points to manifest the spell's potential and then roll a Constitution check DC 14 as an action on your turn. If the Constitution check is successful, you gain one 5th-level spell slot. This spell slot remains until you cast the spell or you finish a long rest. You may use this ability once to gain a spell slot before you must complete a long rest to use it again, but a failure of the Constitution check for this feature does not count as a use of this feature, and you may attempt to use it again by spending another action to attempt the Constitution check.
