Base Class: Rogue
You train extensively with an assortment of ranged weapons in tandem with your unerring aim in order to inflict devastating harm on your enemies. Those who follow this archetype include skilled hunters of both beast, monster, and man as well as rugged individualists who prefer to spend their days in the recesses of nature or even skilled entertainers who ply their skills as marksmen. Snipers can be found in the company of assassins, bounty hunters, hunters, bandits, hired mercenaries, and soldiers- providing support from afar to aid their allies in battle.
Ranged Specialist
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with firearms as well as the Survival skill. Furthermore, when you make a ranged attack while prone you no longer make your attack roll at disadvantage.
Marksman's Claim
Starting at 3rd level, as an action, you claim a target of your choice within 100 feet to focus your attacks against.Your target is claimed for up to 1 minute, until the target dies, or unless you die, or you are incapacitated. While attacking your claimed target you gain the following features:
- Any attack roll you make against your claimed target is a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20.
- You can use your Cunning Action to make a Wisdom (Insight) check against your claimed target's Charisma (Deception) check to discern if your target has any damage immunities, resistances, or vulnerabilities and what they are. If you succeed, you also gain advantage on your next ranged weapon attack against your chosen target at the start of your next turn. If your target is hidden from divination magic, you sense that it has no damage immunities, resistances, or vulnerabilities- however you still gain advantage on the attack.
- Your normal range when making ranged weapon attacks increases by 10 feet when you are attacking your claimed target.
- Your claimed target no longer gains the benefits of half-cover. They still gain the benefits of three-quarters or full cover.
You can’t use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.
Called Shots
Starting at 9th level, you have learned where to place your shots in order to debilitate and weaken your enemies. When you use your sneak attack, you can change your sneak attack die from a d6 into a d4 to instead cause one of the following effects to occur. The DC for any saving throws is 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Dexterity modifier.
- Blinding Shot: You aim your weapon and make a ranged weapon attack at one of your target's eyes. On a hit, the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target has disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks as well as ranged attack rolls. If the target has no additional eyes left they are considered blinded until the end of their next long rest or a spell such as regenerate restore the lost eye(s)
- Crippling Shot: You aim your weapon and make a ranged weapon attack at one your target's legs. On a hit, the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target's speed is reduced by half, and they have disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws. If the target takes the dash action they fall prone after moving. The target can only have their legs restored by a spell such as regenerate or heal to heal the shattered appendages.
- Grazing Shot: As a display of your unerring aim, you attempt to make a shot intended to frighten and disorient your target. If you successfully hit your target with a ranged weapon attack, the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for one minute. When using this called shot, if you have not been seen by the target, the source of their fear is unknown and may cause the target to act irrationally- either to stand without moving or move in a random direction on each of their turns. If unseen, the target also has disadvantage on ability checks for the duration. On each of their turns the target can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on themselves on a success.
- Hemorrhaging Shot: You aim your weapon at the target's arteries or weak points. If you successfully hit a target with a ranged weapon attack, the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw, or take 1d4 damage at the start of each of their turns. At the start of their turn, the target can redo the saving throw- ending the effect on itself on a success. Only one target can be under the effects of Hemorrhaging Shot at a time, and these effects cannot be applied multiple times to the same target.
- Penetrating Shot: You aim for a weak point in your target's armor. When you successfully hit a target with a ranged weapon attack, the target's AC decreases by 1 (maximum of 2) until then don new armor, cast the mending spell on themselves as an action, or at the end of their next short rest. This Called Shot has no effect on spells that increase the caster's AC, such as Shield or Mage Armor but does effect magical armor and natural armor.
- Walloping Shot: You aim your weapon at your target's area of center mass if you successfully hit your target with a ranged weapon attack, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or fall prone. On a failed save the target also takes 1d4 bludgeoning damage due to the impact of the shot.
Silent Skirmisher
At 13th level, you are naturally attuned to setting up ambushes and picking off your targets. You gain advantage on Initiative rolls so long as you are not surprised. Furthermore, you have advantage on one ranged weapon attack roll against any creature that hasn’t taken a turn in the combat yet. Lastly, you no longer have a movement penalty when you are traveling alone at a slow pace and when you succeed on a stealth check you can automatically move up to 5ft in any direction of your choosing.
Target Priority
Starting at 17th level, when the target of your Marksman's Claim dies, you can automatically claim another creature you can see within 30 feet of you, provided you aren’t incapacitated. In addition, you can use your Marksman's Claim feature twice instead of once per short or long rest. Furthermore, your claimed target has disadvantage the saving throws from your Called Shots feature.
