Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

This archetype is designed to be used in a setting with firearms

Paladins who take the Oath of the Stoic follow no gods.  They believe that magic, whether divine or sourced from The Weave, is the same.  They instead use their own connection with magic to create effects that are identical to divine spells.  They believe the path of the paladin who follows a god is destined to end far short of their true potential.  Their longest path is one of ascension beyond taking the form of an avatar, but rather becoming an avatar of their own true form.

Paladins that follow the Oath of the Stoic must have an alignment that is, in some way, neutral.  They are always looking to maintain neutrality and balance.  Emotions get in the way of those, and they therefore shun displays of extreme emotion, and frown upon showing any emotion themselves.

Elemental Smite

At 3rd level, when you swear to the Oath of the Stoic, your Divine Smite (and Improved Divine Smite at level 11) may be applied to your firearms damage.  Your extra damage deals force damage instead of radiant damage.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of the Stoic Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Oath of the Stoic Spells

Channeling

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the Deadeye Channeling.

Deadeye. As a bonus action, you grip your weapon and steady your breath drawing strength from your inner self, granting you unnatural accuracy. You gain an additional firearm attack as part of your attack action this turn, as well advantage on ranged weapon attack rolls until the beginning of your next turn.

Steady Hand

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you can use your firearm inside of short range without disadvantage on the attack roll.  You also gain proficiency with firearms.

Lightning Draw

By 7th level, your heightened awareness helps warn you of incoming enemy missiles. When a creature that you can see targets you with a ranged weapon attack, you can use your reaction to reduce your AC by 5 against the attack. In exchange, you can make a single firearm attack against the attacker. This attack is made before the oncoming attack. This attack cannot be used with divine smite, Deadeye, or the sharpshooter feat.

Endless Barrage

Starting at 15th level, so great is your personal connection with magic that your weapons no longer need ammunition as they are manifested from the very power within you.  You still need to take the reload action as you charge your weapons with your essence.  This effect only works on firearms you are wielding.

Quicksilver Spirit

At 20th level, your person takes on a ghostly countenance. Your skin turns the hue of polished silver, and your eyes glow a burning orange.

Using your bonus action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You are considered to be under the effects of the Haste Spell.
  • You can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. Creatures you pass through suffer 5 Force Damage. You take 5 Force Damage if you end your turn inside a creature or object.
  • You gain resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing Damage.

You may use this ability once per long rest.
