Base Class: Warlock
Patrons are some of the most powerful magic users of all planes. However, they are not as unstoppable as some may think. Their powers can be retained by greater spells and terrible deals. Some patrons even choose to restrain their own abilities as to impose a challenge on themselves. Pact to Oneself warlocks are mortal vessels to immortal souls.
Patron Specialty
Starting at 1st level, you can choose a school of magic to specialize in. This school should reflect the type of patron you were, although it does not have to. For example, Liches may choose Necromancy while Celestial beings may choose Divination. You can learn any spell from that school so long as you have spell slots for it. These count as warlock spells to you and count against your spells known.
Immortal Soul
Starting at 1st level, your original form's power wards off death to your new vessel. When making death saving throws, you only need to make 2 successful rolls to become stable. Additionally, if you are to die, your corpse is protected from decay and becoming undead for 1 day. This extends the time limit on raising your body from the dead.
Unchained Power
Starting at 6th level, you can temporarily bend the restrictions posed upon you. However, the forces restraining you will snap back harder than before. As a bonus action, on your turn, you can regain 1 spell slot. After doing this, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute.
- Your slot level increases by 1
- Casting spells does not consume spell slots
The effect ends early if you are incapacitated. Once the effect ends, you lose all features and additional spells from this subclass for the next 1d4 days.
Making a Deal
Starting at 10th level, you can do the thing all patrons do best. Choose one creature within 30ft of you. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. If the creature fails the throw, you can cast your warlock spells from the creature as if they were you for 1 minute. If the target willingly fails the throw, the duration is doubled and the target can cast Eldritch Blast while under the effect. The effect ends early if the target moves more than 60ft away or is incapacitated. You have two uses of this feature and can place it on two targets simultaneously. You regain all uses for this feature after a short or long rest.
Original Form
Starting at 14th level, the forces restraining you begin to fail. When using your Unchained Power ability, you gain the following benefits.
- Your AC increases by 3
- You have advantage on all saving throws
- You gain a flying speed equal to your movement speed
Additionly, you may decide to return to your patron form permanently. When doing so, you can replace your current warlock subclass for one of your choice. You should choose one that reflects the patron you were, though this is not required.
