Base Class: Blood Hunter (archived)
As time went on, the Blood Hunter orders gradually fell apart, their numbers sparse as monsters no longer needed to be defeated, and the future came, bringing in all kinds of technology and order. But then, a new order began to rise as people found their online information being destroyed by viruses. The Order of the Hacker rose to defeat the viruses, although they are often thought of as the causers of them.
Rite of the Virus-Breaker
When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the modern rite Rite of the Virus-Breaker (detailed below).
Rite of the Virus-Breaker. Your rite damage is force type.
If you hit a coded creature with your Rite of the Virus-Breaker, it suffers 2d4 additional force damage.
Hacking Experience
You gain proficiency with hacking tools. In addition, you have advantage on all intelligence (Hacking tools) checks to code a virus away or to hack into an account.
Binary Strike
Upon reaching 7th level, you’ve learned to infuse your attacks with the very essence of code, gambling hitting harder for a possibility of hitting softer. When you use the Attack action on your turn, you can decide to reroll all ones when you roll for damage, but if any of the rerolled dice become ones, they instead do zero damage.
Web Curse
Beginning at 11th level, your blood curses now gain the ability to become coded. If you are aware of a target through technology, such as over a phone call, or through a camera, you may still curse the target. In addition, coded creatures have disadvantage on saving throws against your blood curses.
Hacked Advantage
At 15th level, you can use the power of code to gain an unfair advantage on your opponents. You have advantage on attack rolls and saving throws while within 15 ft. of a device connected to the internet that you have used in the last minute.
Off the Grid
Upon reaching 18th level, you learn to imprint your soul so as to save yourself when you die. By using a week and 1000 gold pieces, you may make an imprint of your soul on a technological device. Thereafter, if you die, your body dissolves into code and your spirit returns to the device. A week after you die, your body reappears within 5 ft. of the device and your soul enters it, bringing you back to life. If at any point before you are brought back to life, the device is broken, your imprinted soul is destroyed. After being brought back to life, your body suffers the same drawbacks as if it were brought back to life by the raise dead spell.
After using the imprint once, it is expended you must make another in order to come back to life in this way.
