Monk
Base Class: Monk

A select few practitioners of the martial arts dedicate themselves to the protection of others above all else. Disciples of the Way of The Warding Fist hone their senses and their reflexes to achieve this goal, as well as learn to channel their ki into mystical abilities

Guardian's Senses

A monk of the Warding Fist must always be alert for signs of danger

Starting when you take this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Insight and Perception skills if you don't already have it. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of those proficiencies.

Mystical Protection

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to cast Alarm or Sanctuary, or 2 ki points to cast Warding Bond, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the Spare The Dying cantrip if you don't already know it.

Guardian's Reflexes

With your reflexes honed to their peak, you can act in the blink of an eye to attack or defend

At 6th level, when a creature uses the attack action against one of your allies within 5 feet of you or targets them with a spell requiring an attack roll, you can use your reaction to either

  • Give that creature disadvantage on attacks against your ally it targeted until their next turn
  • Make a single melee attack against that creature, if it is within your melee range

Additionally, you cannot be surprised, and you have advantage on initiative rolls

Defender's Toughness

You have trained to take a hit so others don't have to.

At 11th level, you become exceptionally tough. Your maximum hit points increase by a number equal to your level plus your Wisdom modifier

Ghosts of Guardians Past

Your connection to your order and their ideals has strengthened to the point of magical aid from beyond the grave

Starting at 11th level, as an action you can cast Spirit Guardians by spending a number of ki points equal to the level the spell is cast

Aspect of The Guardian

Your will to defend is so great that a god, spirit, or other powerful entity has granted you the ability to call upon their power,

At 17th level, you can use an action to assume the Aspect of The Guardian. For a number of rounds equal to your Wisdom modifier, you gain the following benefits:

  • Whenever you take damage from an attack or spell, that damage is reduced by a number equal to your Wisdom modifier
  • You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls against creatures who attempted to take a hostile action against one of your allies on their last turn
  • Any creature who targets an ally within 30 feet of you with an attack or harmful spell must first make a Wisdom saving throw DC 8 + your proficiency + your Wisdom modifier. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or lose the attack or spell. This doesn't protect against area of effect spells
