Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Some sorcerers have mental blocks to unlocking their Spellcasting abilities.  One branch of sorcerers have found that using a staff works to break through their mental barriers.  These sorcerers become bound to a staff of their choice and gain offensive, defensive and Spellcasting benefits from having a staff in hand.  These sorcerers eventually learn how to pull extra power from their staff as well.

Lesser Staff Bond

Starting at 1st level, At the end of a long rest you bond to a staff of your choice.  Once bound, you can never be disarmed of the staff, and you can (as an action) store the staff in an extra dimensional space.  Retrieving the staff from this space also takes an action.  The bonding remains until the sorcerer dies or bonds to a new staff.

Defensive Uses

Your staff is your greatest defensive tool.  While wielding your bound staff with two hands, you gain a +3 to your Armor class.

You can use a Dodge action by spending 1 sorcery point.  This requires a bonus action.

Offensive Uses

The bound staff grants a +1 to attack on spell attacks and a +1 to melee attacks and damage.

Any bound staff is treated as a magic item for purposes of overcoming resistances to damage.

Any melee attacks made with a bound staff can be made using the sorcerer’s charisma modifier for attacks and damage, in lieu of strength or dexterity.

Spellcasting Uses

You have learned how to pull extra power from your bound staff.  It counts as a Spellcasting focus for your spells.

You gain 1 additional sorcery point.

You bound staff has it’s maximum charges increased by 3.  The staff’s recharge rate remains the same.

Moderate Staff Bond

Starting at 6th level, Your bond to your chosen staff increases.

Defensive Uses

While wielding your bound staff with two hands, you gain a +5 to your Armor class.  This does not stack with lesser versions.

You learn to deflect missiles with your staff reducing its damage.  When hit by a ranged weapon attack, use a reaction to deflect the missile.  Reduce the damage taken by 1d10 + your charisma  modifier + your sorcerer level.

Offensive Uses

The bound staff grants a +2 to attack on spell attacks and a +2 to melee attacks and damage.

You can make two attacks as part of the Attack action.

Spellcasting Uses

You gain 2 additional sorcery point.

You bound staff has it’s maximum charges increased by 5.  The staff’s recharge rate remains the same.

Greater Staff Bond

Starting at 14th level, Your bond with your staff increases to greater levels.

Defensive Uses

While wielding your bound staff with two hands, you gain a +7 to your Armor class.  This does not stack with lesser versions.

Offensive Uses

The bound staff grants a +3 to attack on spell attacks and a +3 to melee attacks and damage.

Spellcasting Uses

You gain 3 additional sorcery point.

You bound staff has it’s maximum charges increased by 7.  The staff’s recharge rate remains the same.

You have learned how to temporarily store a spell within your staff.  After a long rest, you store a spell of 1st or 2nd level into your staff.  This does not require a spell slot.  You can cast that spell from the staff (at it’s lowest level) up to a number of times equal to twice your charisma modifier.  If the spell normally requires concentration, it still requires concentration when cast from the staff.

Scion Staff Bond

Starting at 18th level, Your bond with your staff has become legendary.

Font of Power

You have unlocked a new font of power within your bound staff.  As an action, you unlock the power within your bound staff.  For the next 1 minute, your staff moves with whirlwind speed and you gain Advantage on melee attacks with your staff.  This speed causes your enemies to gain Disadvantage on attacks against you.  All charges used from your staff are halved (rounded down, minimum 1 charge).

Once this ability is used, it cannot be used again until after a long rest.
