The continent of Dyadian has an iron grip on laws surrounding magic users, all those who are educated in the arcane arts are forced to carry a licence denoting their station and are automatically conscripted into the military to be used “for the good of the state”. In those instances when a licenced magic user goes rogue an Arcane Inquisitor is called. Also known as “Antimages”, these wizards specialise in tracking and incapacitating other spellcasters thanks to their unorthodox use of divination and abjuration magic, and can fulfil any role from bounty hunter to mystical contract killer.

Mystical Gaze

At 2nd level your training has allowed you to track magic-users more acutely. You can innately cast the spell detect magic. When you cast the spell this way you don’t need to use verbal or somatic components

Focus Breaker

Also, at 2nd level you’ve moulded your spells to be more effective against spellcasters at their most vulnerable. When you hit a creature concentrating on a spell with a spell of your own, the check they make to maintain concentration is made at disadvantage and if their concentration is broken they take force damage equal to your Intelligence modifier. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier and regain all uses on finishing a long rest.

Arcane Aegis

At 6th level you can weave excess magic to increase your defences and invigorate yourself in battle. When you reduce  a single creature within 30ft of you to 0 hit-points using a spell, creatures have disadvantage on melee and spell attack rolls against you until the end of your next turn.

 

Esoteric Escape

At 10th level you’ve grown so familiar with the techniques of your clients that you can intuit the best way to evade them. As a reaction, when you face a magical hazard that requires a saving throw, you can spend a wizard spell slot of 1st level or higher to take no damage on a success and half damage on a failure. You can target an additional creature within 30ft of you for every spell slot used above 1st.  

Enemy of Magic

By 14th level your skills as a magical assassin are nearly unparalleled. Any spell you cast cannot be revealed by divination magic and you can add your Intelligence modifier to ability checks made to maintain concentration on a spell.
