Base Class: Monk
A monk tradition that teaches the powers of lighting and how to harness it's awesome might for one's own benefit. Monks who've mastered the Way of the Thunder Palm are capable of striking with overwhelming power akin to that of a raging lightning storm.
Storm Incarnate
Starting at level 3 when you chose this tradition, your hands now carry the devastating powers of lightning, you know the shocking grasp spell and are resistant to lightning damage.
Lightning Palm Strike
At level 3, When you use an unarmed attack as a part of your bonus action, you can spend one ki point to use shocking grasp instead.
Lightning Fast Follow-Up
Starting at level 6 you learn the Lightning Lure spell. After you use Shocking Grasp or Lightning Lure as an action, you can use an unarmed attack as a bonus action.
Lightning Link
At level 6, When you hit a creature with a spell that does lightning damage within 15 feet of you, you can spend a ki point to become linked to them with a sustained arc of lightning that requires concentration to maintain. While linked, the target takes an additional 1d4 extra Lightning damage when you hit them with an unarmed attack or shocking grasp. Also if the opponent ends their turn while still linked to you, they take 1d12 lightning damage. The effect ends when either the target moves out of the 15 foot range, or you break concentration.
Brewing Storm
At level 11, you have gained the ability to channel the excess power of your lightning attacks and use it to unleash even greater storms, whenever you land a spell that deals lightning damage or use Lightning Link, you gain a stack of Brewing Storm up to 8 stacks. With an action you can choose to release your excess power in the form of a lightning bolt forming a line of 20 feet long and 5 feet wide , each creature in range must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d6 thunder damage for every stack of Brewing Storm consumed or half as much on a successful save. In addition, the range of this attack increases by 10 feet in length for every stack of Brewing Storm you have.
Master of the Lightning Arts
At level 17, you have mastered the ways of the Lightning Palm and now permanently emit electrical energy from your body. When you roll to deal lightning damage you can now treat any 1s you roll as the max value of the dice (i.e. 6 for a d6 or a 10 for a d10). When an enemy hits you with a melee attack, they have to make a Constitution saving throw or take 4d4 lightning damage. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your proficiency bonus.
