Base Class: Monk
You follow a monastic tradition that teaches you to harness the elements of food. When you focus your ki, you can align yourself with ingredients and blend flavors to your will, using them as an extension of your body. Some members of this tradition dedicate themselves to a single flavor, but others weave the tastes together.
Bonus proficiency
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with cook's utensils.
Favored Flavor
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can choose a favored flavor option and gain the ability associated with that taste.
Bitter
You have gained the ability to channel the flavor of everything bitter. You can use the ability Toxic Jab.
Toxic Jab: The bitter flavor of toxic plants fills your mouth as you channel the taste of bitterness. When an enemy within 5 feet of you attacks a creature other than you, you can use your reaction to make a toxic unarmed strike that deals an additional 1d8 poison damage.
Salty
You have gained the ability to channel the flavor of everything salty. You learn the ability Salty Retaliation.
Salty Retaliation: Channeling the taste of salt, you can use your reaction, when you are hit with a melee attack, to retaliate. When you spend a ki point, the attacker takes Piercing damage equal to your Wisdom modifier + your level as jagged shards of salt sink into the creature. Additionally, similar to rubbing salt in a wound, on the creature's next turn the salt shards cause the creature to take 2d6 psychic damage as it is filled with unbearable stinging pain from the salt.
Sour
You have gained the ability to channel the flavor of everything Sour. You can use the ability Sucker Punch.
Sucker Punch: When a creature enters your melee range you can use your reaction and spend a ki point to make an unarmed strike. On a successful hit, the creature is surprised by your quick and sour sucker punch and suffers disadvantage on their next attack.
Spicy
You have gained the ability to channel the flavor of everything spicy. You gain the ability of the Hot Tamales.
Hot Tamales: You are filled with overwhelming heat and spice that numbs your nerves. When you make an unarmed attack you can spend 2 ki points to activate the Hot Tamales ability. Your unarmed strikes and monk weapon attacks deal additional fire damage equal to your Martial Arts die for 1 minute.
Sweet
You have gained the ability to channel the flavor of everything sugary and sweet. You can use the abilities Taffy Whip.
Taffy Whip: When you make an attack with an unarmed strike or monk weapon, you can spend 1 ki points to lash out with a tendril of sticky taffy as a bonus action. A creature that you can see that is within 30 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 bludgeoning damage. In addition, on a failed save you can either pull the creature up to 25 feet toward you or reduce the target's movement speed to zero until the end of your next turn (your choice). On a successful save the creature takes half damage and is not pulled toward you or grappled. You can increase the damage by 1d8 for each additional ki point you spend.
Umami
You have gained the ability to channel the flavor of everything savory and Umami. In addition, you learn the ability Tenderize.
Tenderize: You channel the savory Umami flavor and treat your enemy like you treat meat before a meal. When you hit an enemy with one of your flurry of blows attack you can cause the following effects:
- The next attack on the enemy has advantage
- The creature can't take reactions until the end of your next turn
- The creature's next attack has disadvantage
- The creature's movement speed is reduced to zero
Taste Tester
At 6th level, you gain a deeper knowledge of your favored flavor. You gain another ability for your favored flavor.
Bitter
Your ability to channel the flavor of everything bitter has increased. Your knowledge of things that are bitter like poisons has increased giving you the ability Food Poisoning.
Food Poisoning: Channeling the bitter flavor of poisons you can now manipulate a foe's health to create a sickening effect. When you hit a creature with one of your flurry of blows you can spend 1 ki points to infuses your strike with deadly poison. The target must make a Constitution saving throw or deals only half damage with weapon attacks that use Strength and suffers disadvantage on strength checks until the spell ends.
At the end of each of the target's turns, it can make a Constitution saving throw against the spell. On a success, the spell ends.
Salty
Your ability to channel the flavor of everything salty has grown. You have learned how to guard yourself better and learn the ability Salty Fortitude.
Salty Fortitude: As a bonus action you can strengthen your body with salt crystals. You gain resistance to all Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage for 1 minute. This ability recharges after a long rest.
Sour
Your ability to channel all things sour has grown. You learn to use your acidic flavor against your enemies and can use the ability Corrosive Punch.
Corrosive Punch: The sharp tangy flavors of sour food have given you the ability to strike a foe from a distance giving you a corrosive punch. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points and propel a jet of acid with a punch at a target of your choice. You make a ranged attack roll and on a hit, the target takes 4d4 acid damage. Additionally, the target takes 2d4 damage at the start of its turn as the acid burns its flesh. On a miss, the target takes half damage and no subsequent damage on its next turn.
Spicy
Your ability to channel the flavor of everything hot and spicy has grown. You now can use the ability Curry Breath.
Curry Breath: As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to Release the burning heat in your stomach in a breath of spicy hot fire. This fire travels in a 15 feet cone. Each creature in the cone must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d6 fire damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one.
Sweet
Your ability to channel the flavor of everything sugary and sweet has grown stronger. You learn the ability Sugar Rush.
Sugar Rush: Your body is filled with a rush of energy for thirty seconds (5 rounds). you can't use this feature again until a long rest is taken. Your speed is doubled, you have a +2 bonus to your AC, you have advantage on dexterity saving throws, and you gain an additional action on each turn. However, that action can only be used to take the attack, dash, disengage, hide, or use an object action. When the spell ends you go into a sugar coma and can't move or take actions until the end of your next turn. Additionally spending a ki point to do patient defense ends the effect immediately sending you into a sugar coma.
Umami
Your ability to channel the flavor of everything savory and Umami has grown. you learn Nourished Bite.
Nourished Bite: As a bonus action, you can consume an item of your favored flavor and regain hit points equal to three times your monk level. You must finish a long rest before you can use this feature again. The edible item of your chosen flavor will be consumed in this process.
Flavor Expert
Beginning at 11th level, You have learned to channel your Favored Flavor even better than before and acquire the additional effects associated with a flavor.
Bitter
You have mastered the flavor of all bitter foods. You master the pungent bitter taste of toxic plants and learn Bitter Revenge.
Bitter Revenge: You can use an action and spend 2 ki points to inflict a bitter curse on a hostile creature. You touch a creature, and that creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become bitterly cursed for the duration of the spell. When you cast this spell, choose the nature of the curse from the following options:
- Choose one ability score. While cursed, the target has disadvantage on ability checks and saving throws made with that ability score.
- While cursed, the target has disadvantage on attack rolls against you.
- While cursed, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw at the start of each of its turns. If it fails, it wastes its action that turn doing nothing.
- While the target is cursed, your attacks and spells deal an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target.
Salty
You have mastered the Flavor of salty food. Mastering the salty flavor palette has taught you how to manipulate the salt balance inside creatures you learn the ability Dehydration.
Dehydration: Starting at 11th level, when you choose Sea Salt as your favored flavor, you can channel an overwhelming amount of salt and sap the strength of your foes. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, You can spend 2 ki points to deal an additional 3d8 necrotic damage and regain hit points equal to half the amount of necrotic damage dealt.
Sour
You have mastered the flavor of all sour food. You have tasted the sourest foods without so much as a pucker you now are immune to anything acidic.
Spicy
You have Mastered the flavor of all spicy hot foods. You have gained a tolerance for all things hot and spicy and no longer take damage from fire.
Sweet
You have mastered the flavor of sweet and sugary things. From baked treats to candy you have become an expert in all things sugary and sweet, you learn the ability Sugary Seduction.
Sugary Seduction: You can channel your favored flavor to influence weak-minded enemies. When you make an unarmed strike against a creature you can spend 2 ki points to try and influence that creature with your sugary charm. The creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be seduced by your sugary sweet presence. On a failed save the target regards its allies as enemies and is compelled to attack them. The effect ends after 1 minute or when you or any of your allies harm the target. On a success, the effect ends.
Umami
You have mastered the flavor of Umami and all savory food. You have learned the true meaning of Umami and acquire the ability to move with the fluidity of broth and learn the ability Table Turn.
Table Turn: When a creature misses you with a melee attack you have the ability to redirect it to a creature of your choice within 5 feet of you. If there is no creature within range you can use your reaction to turn the tables on your foe. You inflict half the damage of your foe's attack back onto them, in addition, to knocking them prone. Additionally, when turning the tables on the attacker you can spend a ki point to inflict full damage.
Food Connoisseur
At 17th level, you gain the ability to completely embody the favored flavors. You can now spend an hour at the end of a long rest to switch between the different Favored flavors.
