Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Devourer abstain from all forms of indulgence. After years of asceticism, their soul hungers for something beyond the material, and begins to absorb the energies around it.

Technique Replication

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can memorize any attack or technique you are hit with.

You gain a new reaction that you can use when you are hit by an attack and are about to take damage, at the cost of 1 ki point. This reaction allows you to memorize a damage type and apply it to your Flurry of Blows. You can memorize a number of damage types equivalent to your Martial Arts Die. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table.

Spell Storage

You gain the ability to replicate the spells of your foes. When you are effected by a spell, you can spend 2 Ki points as a reaction to store the spell inside your soul. As a bonus action, while you are storing the spell, you can replicate the spell and cast it. When you cast a spell in this manner, the spell leaves your body and you may not cast it in this way until you absorb it again.

You can only store one spell in your soul at a time.

You can cast any spell absorbed with your Ki feature. Your spellcasting modifier is wisdom, and any saving throws made by those affected by the spell must beat your Ki save DC.

Spell Devourer

At 11th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into absorbing harmful effects on your body. Immediately after you fail a spell's saving throw, you can spend your reaction to negate the effect of the spell, expending ki points equal to the level of the spell. If you negate a spell in this way, you can choose to store the spell to be used later as well.

You can do this a number of times equivalent to your proficiency modifier per short or long rest.

Soul Eater

At 17th level, your soul has grown so hungry that it devours the life force of beings you attack. As a bonus action after making an unarmed strike against a creature, you can expend 5 Ki points to force the creature to make a wisdom save against your Ki save DC.

On a failed save, the target takes 10d6 + 40 force damage, and half as much on a successful save. If the target is reduced to zero hit points, they are disintegrated, and you gain all of their memories.
