Base Class: Monk
A charisma based monk subclass that focuses on charming other creatures and has the ability to talk its way out of a fight and distract its opponents. When it needs to, the Way of the Silver Tongue Monk can fight as well as anyone else, but a fight doesn't need to come to that. They may even end a fight with a new ally on the other side.
Charismatic Presence
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you begin to harness your charismatic presence around both your enemies and your allies. You get a leg up on your opponent's and gain proficiency in the persuasion skill if you don't already have it. If you already have it, you can gain proficiency in one of either the deception, intimidation, or performance skills. You also add your charisma modifier to your initiative rolls. Your Charisma modifier is used when determining your Unarmored Defense rather than your Wisdom as you are more likely to talk your way out of a fight or distract your opponents than confronting them completely head on. When casting spells you also use your Charisma rather than your Wisdom.
Master of Words
At 6th level, you have the ability to use your words as a weapon. You gain the Vicious Mockery Cantrip and can also cast the spells Charm Person, or Comprehend Languages with 1 Ki Point as an action on your turn.
You have also learned how to use your wit to distract, confuse, and otherwise sap the confidence and competence of others. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can use your reaction to to distract them. You can roll 1d6 subtracting the number rolled from the creature’s roll. You can choose to use this feature after the creature makes its roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before the creature deals its damage. The creature is immune if it can’t hear you or if it’s immune to being charmed. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once). You regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest. This die changes when you reach certain levels in this class. The die becomes a d8 at 11th level and a d10 at 17th level.
Natural Charmer
Beginning at 11th level, you have a natural charismatic presence around you. You can grapple or attack a creature under the effect of the charmed or frightened condition from you and they keep that condition. You also gain expertise in the persuasion skill meaning, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make using the persuasion skill. Any time you make a skill check based on your Charisma that you are proficient in any d20 roll that is a 9 or lower is treated as a 10.
It Ain't Comfy
At 17th level, you make the ultimate impression on people even when you fight them. When you hit a creature with your Flurry of Blows you can spend 4 Ki points and the creature becomes enthralled by you. It is considered charmed and under the effects of Dominate Person or for 2 more additional Ki points under the effects of Dominate Monster. If a creature resists the effects of the charmed condition they can roll a Wisdom saving throw of 8 + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus, if they are immune to the effects of the charmed condition it is at advantage. If a creature is not charmed by this effect by beating the saving throw they suffer one level of exhaustion. When the effects of this charm wear off this creature is friendly towards you as if it were under the Friends spell. This effect does not wear off. The creature may even be gracious towards you but that is to the discretion of your DM.
