Base Class: Barbarian
A path for those of dedication and faith who choose to devote every drop of their blood to a cause, the Path of Wounds hones one's mind as they offer their body to whatever cause they fight for. Those who set out on this path use their willing sacrifices to steel the resolve of those who fight beside them. Barbarians on this path often start out as any other, people filled with rage and a lack of empathy as they rip through those in their way. Those who started on said path often find their faith in some cause and decide to repent by taking the burdens of others onto themselves. The Path of Wounds is a path of selflessness where an individual hopes to gain wisdom through the spilling of their own blood.
Rage of Penance
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you suppress your mindless rage with self flagellation, taking your power from pain and devotion rather than a desire for brutality. Instead of raging, you may instead enter a Rage of Penance by taking damage equal to a roll on your penance die (1d4, increasing at later levels). This damage cannot be prevented or resisted in any way. While under the effects of Rage of Penance, you gain the normal effects of rage, but also gain advantage on Wisdom and Charisma saving throws. Additionally, during Rage of Penance, you may again roll your Penance die as a Bonus Action, taking that much damage and adding the result to your next damage roll. This additional damage can be dealt as fire, radiant, or necrotic damage (your choice).
Your penance die increases to 1d6 at 6th level, 1d8 at 10th, and 1d10 at 14th.
Martyrdom
Beginning at 6th level, you devote yourself fully to taking the woes of your allies upon yourself. As a Reaction whenever a friendly creature within 10 feet of you takes damage, you may reduce the damage they take by an amount equal to Penance Die+ Con+Wis Modifiers. You take any damage negated this way as non-resistible damage.
Spread Resolve
Beginning at 10th level, you learn to give others hope through your sacrifice. As a Bonus Action, you may take damage equal to your Penance Die. If you do, friendly creatures within 10 feet of you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to the damage taken.
Repentant Tether
Starting at 14th level, you learn to enact ultimate empathy, tethering your body to that of one who would do you harm. As an Action, you may choose a creature you can see as the target of your Repentant Tether. While Repentant Tether is active, if you would take damage, your target takes that much Fire, Radiant, or Necrotic damage (your choice.) This effect ends if you fall unconscious or when your Rage of Penance ends.
