Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of Resonance train to detect and manipulate subtle vibrations in the air, using these frequencies to disrupt the ki present in living creatures and create staggering waves of sound. Many monks of this tradition are virtuoso musicians, honing their understanding of ki through its relationship to complex rhythms and melodies. To a monk of the Way of Resonance, the universe is never truly silent.
Harmony
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain insight from your ascetic focus on the vibrations that suffuse the multiverse. You gain proficiency with one musical instrument of your choice, and you learn the thaumaturgy cantrip.
Thunderous Staccato
At 3rd level, your strikes reverberate within a target, ending in a ruinous finale. Once per turn, when you target a single creature with at least 3 attacks, that creature takes thunder damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die.
This damage increases to two rolls of your Martial Arts die when you reach 11th level.
Binaural Distortion
At 6th level, you learn to distort the air around your body with powerful sonic waves. You can choose to have your unarmed strikes deal thunder damage instead of bludgeoning damage.
Additionally, you can spend 2 ki points to cast the Mirror Image spell. While the spell is active, after a creature within 5 feet of you makes an attack roll against you, you can use your reaction to make one unarmed strike against that creature.
Sonic Boom
At 11th level, you gain the ability to bolt across the battlefield, creating devastating shockwaves in your wake. As an action, you can target an area in a line that is 5 feet wide and up to 30 feet long, originating at you and ending in an unoccupied space you can see. You teleport to the unoccupied space at the opposite end, and all creatures within the targeted area must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your ki save DC. On a failed save, a creature takes thunder damage equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die. When you use this feature, a loud crack rings out from your original space, audible from as far away as 300 feet.
You can increase the damage of this feature by spending ki points. Each point you spend, to a maximum of 3, increases the damage by one roll of your Martial Arts die.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 3 ki points to use this feature again.
Symphony of Strikes
Beginning at 17th level, you can enter a tranquil meditation in combat to become aware of every subtle vibration in the air. As an action, you can enter this state until the start of your next turn. While meditating in this way, whenever a hostile creature within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll or casts a spell, you can teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of that creature and make one unarmed attack against it, immediately before the attack is rolled or the spell is cast. A single creature can only be targeted by this ability once per turn. The meditation ends if you become deafened or incapacitated. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend 4 ki points to use it again.
