Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

Revision of the Alchemist Subclass with UA Archivist ties.

Tool Proficiency

When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with calligrapher’s supplies. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Archivist Spells

Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Archivist Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Historical Archives

Beginning at 3rd level, whenever you finish a long rest, you can magically transcribe an historical effect into an empty scroll or piece of paper you touch. At the end of a long rest and while you have calligrapher’s supplies on your person, roll a number of d12 on the Historical Archive table for each scroll’s effect. At first level, this is one die, at 6th you may roll two, and at 15th you may roll three.

If any of the dice rolled are duplicates, or if you create another scroll by expending a spell slot of 1st level or higher as an action, you may instead choose an effect (If you roll two 3s, you must take one three for one scroll, but may choose any of the other effects for the other).

Any scroll you create with this feature lasts until it is read or until the end of your next long rest. To use a scroll, any creature that can read at least one language must use their action and learn the effect. At any point in the next hour, they may use their Bonus Action to activate the effect. Once a scroll is read, the writing vanishes but the paper may be re-used.

Any effect on the table that references 'your Intelligence' modifier refers to the Artificer who transcribed this scroll; not the reader's intelligence modifier.

If you study another creature for at least 2 hours, you can spend 25gp to use either your Tinker's Tools or Calligrapher's Tools to craft and store your observations of their talents inside of a Tiny, nonmagical item. The item grants proficiency that you observed in a skill, tool, or vehicle to whomever possesses it.

You may store up to 1/2 your proficiency bonus (rounded up) worth of bonus proficiencies in this item, and may only have one of these items at a time.

Mind Network

At 9th level, you've mastered the connections between your mind and others, whether for better or worse.

  • While you have your Artificial Mind item on your person, you can magically communicate telepathically with anyone carrying one of your artificer infusions. That person can also communicate with anyone else bearing an infusion. This link cannot surpass 100 miles or planar boundaries.
  • You have advantage on saving throws against being charmedfrightened or effects that would read your thoughts.

Archivist Adept

By 15th level, your studies have led you to learn more about the world, and about your allies.:

  • If you or whomever is wearing your telepathic advisor is part of your Mind Network, its benefits are shared by all members.
  • You can cast comprehend languages at will, and can cast tongues without expending a spell slot, without preparing the spell, and without material components, provided you use alchemist’s supplies as the spellcasting focus. Once you cast the spell with this feature, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest.'
  • Once per turn, you may add your intelligence modifier worth of psychic damage to the damage of any cantrip or weapon attack.
