Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Disclaimer: This is a joint creation between Dirty_brdy and myself.

As a Paladin of Enlightenment, yours is a deity of knowledge and wisdom - such as Ioun, Oghma, Deneir or Celestian. You have sworn yourself to the preservation and protection knowledge and lore, as well as to root out and defeat those who would conceal or misuse it. It is a gift of the gods, and is meant to be shared.

Tenets:

Discovery - Traverse the Planes, from the highest heights to the deepest depths - for the universe is a source of endless wonder, and hidden peril.

Illumination - With due wisdom, make known the unknown. Make sense of the insensible, and pass on your knowledge to others that they may know enlightenment.

Vigilance - Hunt all those who would keep dangerous secrets and hoard knowledge for their own gain, lest they prey upon the ignorant and keep the world in darkness.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Know Thine Enemy. As a bonus action, once per turn when you deal damage with Divine Smite, you learn certain hidden truths about your foe using your Channel Divinity. Choose from either your target’s Defenses or Offences to learn:

Defenses - all Resistances, Immunities and Vulnerabilities, maximum hit-points and a single saving throw proficiency.

Offences - all attack bonuses, save-DC, attack-types and their accompanying damage dice.

This ability refreshes upon a Short or Long Rest.

Divine Intuition - As an action, you take hold your holy symbol, and using your Channel Divinity receive divine insight and understanding from your deity.

Gain advantage on all Wisdom and Intelligence ability checks for 10 minutes. This refreshes on a Short or Long Rest.

Wisdom of War Blessing

Lay on Hands is now a bonus action. In addition, you have learned how to bestow combat knowledge from your deity upon yourself or your allies at a touch.

Whenever you spend at least 5 points of your Lay on Hands pool to heal a creature, you give them the opportunity to reroll the damage dice of all of their spells or attacks on their next turn (or current turn, if you are healing yourself), and choose which roll to use. You may do this until you have less than 5 points remaining in your Lay on Hands pool.

Mark of Truth

Starting at 15th level, immediately after you use your Know Thine Enemy ability you may then use your Reaction to brand your deity’s mark onto the target. This grants you the following benefits:

  • For as long as you are within 30 feet of the branded target, they must make a Wisdom-saving throw against your Spell Save DC each time they wish to lie. You are aware if they succeed or fail in the saving throw.
  • You may use your Bonus Action on future turns to teleport with melee distance of the branded target as long as you are within 60 feet of them.
  • You know the exact location of your target as long as they remain on the same Plane of existence.

The mark fades away after 24 hours or if it is dispelled via such spells as dispel magic, remove curse or greater restoration.

Enlightened Warrior

At 20th level, you can assume the form of a paragon of enlightenment. Using your bonus action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your entire form glows with harmless, spectral flames like a candle or torch, and you shed bright light out to 30ft, banishing all darkness (mundane and magical). Dim light extends a further 30ft.
  • You and any allies within 30ft of you when you first use this ability gain Truesight for 1 minute, with a range out to 60ft.
  • If an enemy ends its turn within 30ft of you, you and your allies may apply vulnerability to the damage done from one attack, spell or effect to that enemy, once per turn.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
