Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Shades pull magic from the Shadowfell to awaken their own shadows and strengthen their martial prowess. They master ancient and forbidden arts that teach how to use their shadow as a weapon, wandering close to the dangers of the maddening shadowy realm.

Umbral Sight

At 3rd level, you gain darkvision out to a range of 60 feet. If you already have darkvision from your race, its range increases by 30 feet.

You are also adept at evading creatures that rely on darkvision. While in darkness, you are invisible to any creature that relies on darkvision to see you in that darkness.

Awaken Shadow

Also at 3rd level, as a bonus action, you can awaken your shadow within 5 ft. of you, appearing as a dark and featureless copy of your own form. It obeys your commands and can communicate with you telepathically. When you use your Second Wind feature, your shadow regains the same amount of hit points as you. Your shadow has the same statistics as a typically shadow, except that it uses your proficiency bonus and has a hit point maximum equal to one quarter of yours. It acts immediately after you in the initiative order and cannot stray more than 60 feet from you. The shadow disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or you use a bonus action to dismiss it. Your shadow cannot be awakened if it is at 0 hit points. It is rejuvenated to full hit points on a long rest.

Shadow Scythe

Starting at 7th level, when you roll damage for a weapon attack, you can increase that damage by spending hit dice. You can spend a number of hit dice equal to half your fighter level or less. Roll the spent dice and add them to the damage as necrotic damage. If you kill a hostile creature with an attack augmented in this way, you or an ally of your choice within 5 feet of the creature regains 2 hit points per die spent to increase the attack’s damage.

Shade Defenses

Starting at 10th level, you gain advantage on death saving throws, immunity to the frightened condition, and resistance to necrotic damage.

Shadow Walk

At 15th level, you gain the ability to step from one shadow into another. When you are in dim light or darkness, as a bonus action, you can teleport up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness.

Embraced Connection

At 18th level, you fully embrace your connection to the Shadowfell. Choose which aspect of your shadow to enhance:

Deadly Shadow

Your shadow can attack twice whenever it uses the attack action. Additionally, your shadow gains the Shadow Scythe feature. The shadow spends your hit dice.

Resilient Shadow

Your shadow's maximum hit points increase to one half yours. Additionally, the shadow loses its Sunlight Sensitivity feature.

Roving Shadow

Your shadow can move up to 100 feet away from you and can communicate telepathically with you up to that distance. Additionally, your shadow gains the Umbral Sight feature.
