Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Bounty hunters are rangers who use their keen senses and honed tracking skills to turn a profit, hunting down criminals or monsters for coin. They are independent and self sufficient, rarely working alongside the law. Those who hire a bounty hunter do so as a last resort when all other options have been exhausted. Bounty Hunters are also capable of crafting specialised tools to help them bring in their bounty, dead or alive.

Designated Target

When you choose this subclass at 3rd level, you can use your bonus action to designate a creature you can see within 60 feet as your target. You gain a bonus to any Strength (Athletics) checks to grapple this target, Wisdom (Survival) checks to track this target, and damage rolls against this target. The bonus equals your proficiency bonus. This creature is considered your target for 1 hour. You can't use this feature again until you complete a short or long rest.

Potent Attacks

Starting at 7th level any weapon attacks you make against your favored enemies and designated targets count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Tools of the Trade

By 11th level you have learned how to imbue magic into mundane tools to aid you in collecting your bounties. You gain proficiency in tinker's tools and can spend an hour to craft any of the following, providing you have the item required.

Animated Manacles As an action, you can speak a command word to activate these manacles, sending them flying towards a small or medium creature within 60 feet. This creature must succeed on a dexterity saving throw or be restrained for one minute. The manacles have 15 hit points and an armor class of 12. At the end of each of its turns this creature can make a Strength (Athletics) check to break free.

Arcane Arrows As an action, you can whistle to activate this quiver of five arrows. They spring to life and encircle your body. You can then use a bonus action to attack a creature with one of these arrows. They have a range of 60 feet and deal 1d8 piercing damage on a hit.

Grappler As an action you can throw this grappling hook to activate it. It lodges itself into a point of your choosing within 60 feet and immediately retracts the rope attached to it, pulling you to that point. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

These items use your spell attack modifier and spell save DC and return to being mundane items after you activate them.

Coup de Grace

At 15th level your skill as a bounty hunter allows you to bring weakened enemies to a swift death. If a weapon attack you make reduces a creature to less than 10 hit points, you can use a bonus action to make another attack against that creature with the same weapon.
