Base Class: Barbarian
The Path of the Cursed Frenzy is one lined with tribulations, darkness, and fear. Your rage stems from a curse that afflicts your soul. You may have been marked by an angel or a devil, or perhaps a demon dwells within you, showing itself when you rage. Regardless, your presence strikes fear into the civilized world, and you revel in the pain it causes you.
Dark Communion
When you adopt this path at 3rd level, you gain a cursed aspect that feeds off of pain and grants you power. While you rage, your curse can convert your life energy into raw physical power. As a bonus action, you can take 1d8 necrotic damage. The next time you deal damage, you can add this to the total, which has advantage. This damage increases to 2d8 at 6th level, 3d8 at 10th level, and 4d8 at 14th level.
At your option, you also gain minor physical attributes when you rage that display the dark aspect of your soul: your eyes may change color, or spectral flames may dance along your body.
Signature Spell
Starting at 6th level, your curse's hunger extends to those around you. When you use your Dark Communion feature, creatures within 5 feet of you must make a Charisma saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, they take necrotic damage equal to half of the damage you take.
Penance Share
Starting at 14th level, you can brand a foe to share your curse with it. When you take damage from a creature within 5 feet of you while raging, you can use your reaction to force it to make a Charisma saving throw (DC equal to 8+your proficiency bonus+your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, every time you take damage for the duration of your rage, the creature takes necrotic damage equal to half of the damage you take. This manifests as a physical mark on the creature, the appearance of which you may choose.
If the creature succeeds on its saving throw, you can’t use this feature on that creature again for 24 hours. You can only hold a Penance Share on one creature at a time.
