Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The roots of the order wind their way through ancient tales of a people who were lost and separated from the origin of their culture. These were the race of the wingles, who in the ancient but not-so-distant past had lost the last of the tribe they all claimed descent from; the wingles had always dabbled in religion, but this was when they first became religious. They increasingly turned to their ancestors for guidance... and were answered. Many wingles already had great reverence for The Elders and their other ancestors, so this was a very natural extension of their faith for them.

It took time for the order to grow, as it faced resistance from the more traditional and established religious sects of the societies many wingles lived in. It took many works of might before the order was seen as legitimate, if still not favored. Those deeds are recorded in lengthy and dramatic poems, written on scrolls and memorized. In those early days the only concrete tenet of the order was Faith. The Council of Fourteen's goals were often inscrutable and unclear, though they led to many lives being saved. But, over time, as the repertoire of prayers revealed to the order was built up, the main facets of the Council's approach were divined.

TENETS OF THE OATH OF THE COUNCIL OF FOURTEEN

The exact wordings and enclave details of the Oath of the Council of Fourteen vary, but paladins of this oath share these tenets:

Faith. Trust the Council's guidance above all else. Where there is no way, there will be a way; either by intervention, or by entrusting my fate to the Council.

Reflection. Look with the eyes, but see with the mind. Set apart some time to investigate the mysteries of the faith and when possible, pause to see where my actions are leading me.

Loyalty. There is strength in numbers. It is through faith in my bonds and bonds through my faith that I am affirmed.

Candor. Speak the truth from my heart without fear or malice. It is honesty that prepares the way for faith and facing turmoil.

Action. I am to speak for the voiceless, stand for those who cannot stand up for themselves, press on for those who can go on further, and fight for those who are defenseless.

Individually, the original tribe of wingles- The Elders, The Council of Fourteen- were known for various works of might and magic, but collectively, their power is immense. They became known for being involved in fate and chance, for under their guidance the whimsy common to wingles found purpose and produced heroism where none was thought to be found. Their paladins became known for traveling far and wide, many leagues away from the floating island home to many wingles and beyond across the horizon, always stopping in for a word or taking on any quest, almost no matter how small.

Perhaps it was that you met a member of the order during your journeys, or you came across a fragment of the odes of its ancient heroes, or you decided to join on what seemed like a whim. Whatever the case, you are now set on a path for a destiny no one could ever predict.

Fulgent Fortitude

An Oath of the Council of Fourteen paladin's health draws on their integrity and force of will, girding them up with an inner light. As such, they gain one extra hit point per level, and their Charisma determines their hit points.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Council's Solidarity. As an action, you are endowed with the Council's favor, using your Channel Divinity. Roll 1d20, rerolling if you get a number higher than 14: for 1 minute, damage dealt to you is reduced by the roll amount(before damage calculation), and you can add the roll result to one saving throw you make during the duration. You also emit bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light 20 feet beyond that.

You can end this effect on your turn as part of any other action. If you fall unconscious, this effect ends.

Sear the Unholy. As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a prayer censuring fiends and undead, using your Channel Divinity. Each fiend or undead that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is Blinded for 1 minute or until it takes damage.
