Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Awakened Mind follow a tradition that values reconnaissance and infiltration. The Way of the Awakened Mind use ancient esoteric techniques that use the power of the mind to track enemies down, attack their enemies, and to use the mind of their enemies against themselves. These monks might be called psionic ninjas or psychic spies, and they serve as infiltrators and assassins. Sometimes the members of a psionic ninja monastery are family members, sworn to secrecy about their arts and missions. Other monasteries are more like thieves' guilds, hiring out their services to nobles, military, rich merchants, or anyone else who will pay for their services and information. Regardless of their methods, the heads of these monasteries expect the unquestioning obedience of their students.

Mind's Eye

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast Detect Thoughts, without providing material components. When you use this spell to detect the presence of thinking creatures, you can do it as a bonus action rather than an action on each of your turns. Additionally, when you gain this feature, you gain the message and minor illusion cantrips, if you don't already know them. You can cast these cantrips as a bonus action, requiring no material components, with the modifications below:

Message. You don't need to point toward the target or whisper your message out loud.

Minor Illusion. You can create both a sound and an image with a single casting of this spell.

Ethereal Form

Starting at 6th level, you can partially phase into the Plane of Dreams and become a figment of phantasmal energy. As a bonus action, you and everything you are wearing and carrying, assumes a spectral form for 10 minutes. While in this form, you gain resistance to psychic damage and your unarmed strikes deal psychic damage. You gain advantage to dexterity(stealth) checks and you can move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain, but you take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside a creature or object. This ability ends early, as a free action, or unless you become incapacitated or killed. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Psionic Possession

At 11th level, you gain the ability to turn yourself into pure psionic energy and take possession of a creature's body. As an action, you can spend 3 ki points and choose a creature you can see within 5 feet of you. The target is forced to make a Wisdom saving throw or it becomes possessed by you; you, and everything you are wearing and carrying, disappears and the target is incapacitated and loses control over their body. Targets that are hostile towards you makes this roll with advantage and if you're hidden from the target, and it is not hostile towards you, it makes the Wisdom saving throw at disadvantage. While possessed, you are under the following effects:

• The target becomes incapacitated and loses control over their body. They are unaware of what they are doing for the duration of the possession.

• You can't be targeted by any attack, effect, or spell. If the possessed target is targeted by an effect that would release it from your hold, such as the Dispel Magic spell, the possession ends. Any creature that has true sight can see the target is possessed.

• You retain your alignment and personality. You use the target's statistics and movements speed, however, you do not know the target's statistics. The only actions you can take are the Dash, Disengage, Dodge, Help, Hide, or Search. The DM makes your ability saving throws and determines if they are successful or failed. You do not gain access to the target's knowledge, class features, or proficiencies.

• You cannot cast any spells or cantrips that you or the target may know and possessing a target ends it's concentration of any spells or effects the target has active, prior to the possession. Additionally, you cannot use any of your class features while the target it possessed.

The possession lasts for up to 1 hour, unless you end it as a bonus action, you are forced out by an effect such as a Dispel Magic spell, or the target's hit points drops to 0. When the possession ends, you reappear in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the target. A target that was not hostile, prior to the possession, rationalizes any reason for being unaware of where they are or what they have done, after the possession ends. For example, the target may assume they were sleep walking or had a temporary mental lapse. If you end the possession as a bonus action, as part of the bonus action, you can active your Ethereal Form feature, if it is available. If the possession ends from the target dropping to 0 hit points, you take 4d8 necrotic damage from the trauma and damage the target received. The target is immune to your possession for 24 hours after succeeding on the saving throw or after the possession ends. This feature cannot be used against constructs or undead.

Psychic Infiltration

At 17th level, you gain the ability to psychically debilitate your enemies and infiltrate their minds. As an action, you can spend 4 ki points and choose a creature that you can see within 30 feet. The creature must make a Wisdom saving throw. If it fails, it is reduced to 1 hit point and falls unconscious. If it succeeds, it takes 10d10 psychic damage.
Additionally, while you're within 5 feet of a creature that is unconscious, you can search through the creature's memories for a piece of information it may know. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point and touch an unconscious target for 1 minute and gain a piece of information from the target's memory. The memory can't be any longer than 10 minutes and this includes any faulty information that is truly believed by the target. The faulty information will be passed on without any indication of its legitimacy. You cannot use this ability on a target that has an intelligence of 4 or lower, is undead, or a construct.
