Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Like any army, fiendish armies have troops of all types. From demonic generals to warriors, torturers and scouts.  But one of the most important roles is that of the sniper.  For this role, fiendish armies conscript Orthons.  With their natural ability to create an invisibility field and their infernal brass crossbows they can remove some of the most well guarded targets.  Once in a long while an Orthon becomes strong enough to become a patron for mortal warlocks.  From this bargain, the Orthon gains a group of mortal snipers, and the warlocks gain devastating abilities with their crossbow.

Infernal Training

Your bargain with your Orthon patron grants you certain abilities, starting with training with a crossbow.  Starting at 1st level, you gain proficiency in all crossbows.  Any crossbow that you are wielding becomes a spellcasting focus for you.

Infernal Ammunition

On many of the planes where fiends travel trees are scarce or non-existent.  Without trees, it is impossible to make a crossbow or bolts to fire.  Orthons craft a crossbow of brass and fire magical ammunition.  Being from the prime material plane, wood is a little more attainable but running out of bolts is a hindrance for a sniper.  As such, starting At 1st level your patron teaches you how to create bolts of infernal energy rather than firing a physical bolt.  These bolts deal 1d6 Fire damage.  In addition your patron connects your warlock invocations to your crossbow.  You can apply your invocations that have a prerequisite of “eldritch blast cantrip” to your crossbow attacks.

Infernal Aim

Your patron teaches you to aim like an infernal sniper.  Starting at 6th level you can use your charisma modifier to attacks and damage with crossbows of all types.  Your patron also enchants your crossbow bolts to deal an additional 2d6 poison damage per hit.

Infernal Crossbow

Starting at 10th level, you are given the knowledge of how to enhance your crossbow using infernal secrets.  You attach brass plates to your crossbow and your Orthon patron enchants it with special abilities in addition to any abilities the crossbow itself may have.  Your crossbow gains new ranges of 100/400 feet and once per round can apply one of the following effects to one of their crossbow shot (warlock’s choice):

  • Acid Shot : The target must make a Constitution save DC 15, a failed check me and they take an additional 2d6 acid damage or half damage on a successful save.
  • Blindness : The target takes an additional 1d6 radiant damage and all creatures within a 10 feet radius of the target must make a Dexterity save DC 15 or be blinded until the end of the warlock’s next turn.  This ability can only be used once per long rest.
  • Concussion : The target and all creatures within 10 feet must make a Constitution saving throw DC 15 or take 2d6 thunder damage or half damage on a successful save.
  • Entanglement : The target must make a dexterity saving throw DC 15 or become restrained by sticky webs for 10 minutes.  A restrained creature can break out by making either a strength or dexterity check DC 15.
  • Paralysis : The target takes 4d6 lightning damage and must make a constitution saving throw DC 15 or become paralyzed until the end of the warlock’s next turn.  This ability can only be used once per long rest.
  • Tracking : The warlock knows the direction and distance of the target for the next 24 hours.  This ability ceases to work if the target changes plane, but the warlock is informed of what plane the target went to prior to the end of the ability.  This ability can only be on one target at a time.

Infernal Hide

Starting at 14th level your skin gains the resilience of fiends.  Add your charisma modifier to your armor class and saving throws.

Invisibility Field

Your Orthon patron teaches you his most valuable ability, the invisibility field.  Starting at 14th level, as a bonus action you and your equipment can become invisible.  This lasts until you make an attack roll or are hit by an attack.  You can do this a number of times equal to your warlock level.  This resets on a short rest.
