Base Class: Druid
Some Dragonborn Druidic circles focus on the ancient power of the material plane of Dragons. Bordering the liminal space of magical and natural creatures, joining this circle will make you a catalyst of both worlds.
Dragon Shape
The rites of your circle grant you the ability to transform into dragons. Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a dragon with a challenge rating as high as 1 (you ignore the Max CR column of the Beast Shapes table, but can only use flying speed of your Dragon form when you are an 8th level druid).
Starting at 6th level, you can transform into a Dragon with a challenge rating as high as your druid level divided by 3, rounded down.
Breath Weapon Expertise
At 6th level, you learn to control the breath attacks of your Dragon forms. Your attacks in Dragon form count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
In addition, when you roll a d6 to recharge your breath weapon you can roll twice and use either result. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Empowered Breath Attack
At 10th level, when you deal damage with your breath attack in Dragon form, you may expend a spell slot to deal 1d8 extra damage per level of the spell slot. This damage is of the same damage type as the breath attack.
Dragon Body
At 14th level, your material form attunes to the Dragon forms you control. You gain blindsight up to 30ft and darkvision of 60ft.
Furthermore, you can expend two Wild Shape uses to transform into a Dragon with a CR equal to half your Druid level instead of one third of it. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
I love this subclass Idea
There's a different text description on Dragon Shape on the character sheet than in the builder.
this is incredibly weak
Does this Circle mean to have hidden Circle Spells? Cause I get automatic preperation for a few really off-theme spells like "Gentle Repose" "Gaseous Form" "Animate Dead" and "Contagion"
Two new spells when I get access to the appropriate spell slots
Anyone else getting this? Or am I just missing the connection and the subclass is meant to have them?
That sounds like a good trade off to me
Hey, I'm pretty late to this but I'd just like to say, I think a decent compromise would be to restrict the Druid to *only* assuming dragon forms, and cannot turn into beasts. This makes them lose a lot of utility in favor of more damage, which I think is balanced enough :)
I can see that, and i had originally thought to add a restriction, like being bound to Dragonborn Druids or something similar. But then i thought, if you're using homebrew material you should be in consultation with your DM in any case, and it would be better that they impose such restrictions rather than i.
That said, some suggested restrictions:
You need to be a Dragonborn, or
You need to be a Draconic Soul Sorcerer multiclassing, or
You need to be a Kobold, or
You need to be a Cleric devoted to Bahamut, Tiamat or some other Draconic deity, etc.
A restriction saying that you can only enter dragon form once per day might be better, perhaps. I would require some feedback for that.
Yes, you are right. I've removed the spells from the class, should be updated soon.
Did you base this on Circle of Spores? There are weird spells being granted. Don't know why a Dragon druid would have raise dead for example.
This reads to me as "Like a moon druid, but better, because dragons." I'm not sure how you intended this to stack up to PHB circles, but it seems like it'd just displace them.
