Base Class: Monk
An often quoted mantra of many martial artists is to “Not Think, but Feel.” While this advice has many interpretations, there are those whom take this to an entirely unique art form.
Monks of the Blind Impulse are trained in the art of using one’s mind’s eye to overcome incoming danger. To fight with instinct.
Instinct Defense
When choosing this tradition at 3rd Level, you may expend 2 ki points to use your Patient Defense as a free action instead of a bonus action on your turn.
Vagrant Stance
At 3rd Level, Your Ki has made manifest the perfect resolute Defense to protect your body and soul. You now gain the following benefits:
Defensive Strike. Enemies provoke Oppritunity Attacks when they attempt to enter your melee range as well as attempting to leave.
Sudden Movement. Any time after you’ve used your reaction and before the start of your next turn, you can expend 1 Ki point to use another reaction.
Mindless Barrier. As a reaction to being targeted by an attack, you can expend 2 Ki points to cast Shield on yourself.
Hyper Awareness
At 6th Level, you have honed your senses to a point where others find it hard to sneak about you. You cannot be surprised in combat as long as you aren’t incapacitated or unconscious. In addition, you may add your Wisdom modifier to your Initiative.
Deflect Mastery
Beginning at 11th Level, you have perfected the art of the Deflect Missiles technique, and have even found ways to improve it. You gain the following new arts:
Deflect Magic. You can use your Deflect Missiles reaction against ranged spell attacks that only target you. Additionally, if the damage is reduced to 0, you can send the ranged spell attack back to the original caster as if you had cast it.
Deflect Spells. As a reaction, you can reduce the damage of a Spell targeting you that are not considered spell attacks, using Deflect Missiles’ statistics. Eg. Fireball, or Lightning Bolt. If you successfully reduce the spell’s damage to equal to or less than your Monk Levels, the spell is negated akin to counter spell. Spells that don’t do damage still apply, and must be reduced as if it’s total were 20 + ( 2 x the Spell’s Level). On a success, you gain 1 Ki point if the spell was levels 1-3, 2 Ki points of the spell was levels 4-6, and 3 Ki points if the spell was levels 7-9.
Impulsive Supremacy
At 17th Level, your natural ebb and flow with the weave allows your Ki to defend against oncoming attacks with grace and supreme ability. As a bonus action, you can spend 10 Ki points as You can enter a hyper catatonic state of pure instinct for one minute. For the duration, you gain the following benefits:
• You have advantage on all attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws.
• Initiative Rolls of 19 or Lower are treated as a 20.
• All damage taken is reduced by 3 x Your Wisdom Modifier as your Ki wreathes your form.
• At the start of each turn for the duration, roll a d4. Upon doing so, you regain that many Ki points.
• Instead of only have one reaction per turn for the duration, you have as many reactions as your wisdom modifier per turn.
