Ancient Studies. When you choose this school at 2nd level, you gain proficiency in History, Investigation, and Religion if you do not have it already. Additionally, you choose two of the following languages to learn: Primordial, Deep Speech, Sylvan, Dwarvish, Elvish, Abyssal, Infernal, or Draconic.

Remnant Influence. The past has a calling to you, indescribable and ethereal. As a student of Historic Arcana, you can call upon the past to alter the present. When you cast a spell that uses a spell slot, you can alter the damage type to any other damage type.

Additionally, when you cast a spell that would require a saving throw, you can change the type of saving throw it would require. Furthermore, when you see a spell cast, you can alter the damage type or, if it requires a saving throw, change the type of saving throw. Once you change the type of saving throw required by a spell or change the damage of a spell not cast by you, you may not do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Archaic Understanding. When you reach 6th level, you can spend one hour focusing on your spell book and notes and roll for one of the Archaic Benefits below. You may choose or roll for the benefit at the discretion of your DM. This benefit lasts until you change it. You may not attempt to change it until you have completed a long rest.

Archaic Benefit

1

Knowledge Recall. You can extend your list of prepared spells by one, adding a spell from your spell book.

2

Bygone Advice. You may select one skill with which you do not have proficiency and become proficient in that skill.

3

Distant Barriers. You gain resistance to one damage type of your choice.

Additionally, when you reach 6th level, you have developed an intuitive understanding of the history of places, items, and people. You can double your proficiency bonus on History and Investigation checks made to uncover information about the past.

Continuing Echoes. When you reach 10th level, you can cause the lines between the past and the present blur ever so slightly. When you observe a creature make an attack against you or an ally, and that creature has taken an action since the beginning of its last turn, you can use your reaction to force the creature to repeat its last action instead of making its attack.

Alternatively, when a creature makes a melee or ranged attack, and that creature has made a ranged or melee attack since the beginning of its last turn against a different target, you can use your reaction to force the creature to attack the initial target instead of the new one. You can use this ability a number of times equal to half your Intelligence modifier rounded down, minimum of one, per long rest.

Additionally, when required, you may use your Remnant Influences feature twice per long rest.

Master of the Ancient. You are a master of using the past to augment the present. When you reach 14th level, as a bonus action, you can call to mind any spell, regardless of its class or type. This must be for a level for which you have spell slots, you mustn’t have it prepared, and you follow the normal rules for casting it, including expending a spell slot. If the spell isn’t a wizard spell, it counts as a wizard spell when you cast it. The ability to cast the spell vanishes from your mind when you cast it or when the current turn ends.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
