Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Corrosive Body learn to harness the corrosive energy of acid. They are a resilient group of individuals who learn to study oozes and dragons. The manipulate the ki within and around themselves to deal excruciating pain to their enemies while protecting themselves.

Those who follow the Way of the Corrosive Body often find themselves studying Alchemy and the craft of making poisons. They also find themselves as loners due to the physical demands of their training. They normally appear emaciated and have more gaunt features, often being covered in acid burns as a sign of resilience. They often work alone or in small groups as adventurers or mercenaries, and some of the more mentally unstable monks find themselves leaning towards evil and find joy in torture.

Members of the Way of the Corrosive Body usually wear sleeveless robes to show their scars as a sign of pride. They also wear tighter-fitting bottoms to have more maneuverability on the battlefield. They often don't wear hoods or cowls, unless a job calls for it.

Commanding Presence

Your determination to harness corrosive energy has taken a physical toll on your body, and others are more prone to do what you ask, whether out of respect or fear of you. As a result, whenever you make an Charisma (Intimidation) or a Charisma (Persuasion) check, you gain a bonus to the check equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of +1).  You also gain proficiency in Intimidation and Persuasion if you do not already have it.

Student of Corrosion

You begin study of the corrosive elements of oozes and dragons. You gain proficiency with Alchemist's Supplies and Poisoner's Kits if you do not already have it.

Stance of the Corrosive One

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your ki to provide protection when you are hit by your enemies.  When you go into your Patient Defense, you are protected by the corrosive element of your tradition, and enemies that hit you with a melee attack take 1d8 acid damage (2d8 at 5th, 3d8 at 11th, 4d8 at 17). When your enemies take this damage, they must make a Constitution saving throw against your Ki Save DC. On a failed save, they are covered in acid, and they have disadvantage on attacks against you until the end of their next turn. This stance also enables you to be more reactive with your ki. When an enemy coated in acid from your corrosive aura leaves your melee range, you can spend 1 ki point as a reaction to cause the ki within the acid to react and deal the damage again, foregoing an opportunity attack. This coating lasts until the start of your next turn, or until you spend a ki point to deal damage as a reaction, whichever occurs first.

Corrosive Being

When you reach 6th level, your connection with your corrosive element grows stronger. You gain immunity to acid, and you deal an extra Martial Arts die of acid damage when you hit with your monk weapons or unarmed strikes. As an action, you can manipulate the corrosive energy of your ki to create a duplicate in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of you by spending 3 ki points. Your duplicate takes an amorphous form, as it appears to be made out of acid; it lasts for 1 minute, or until you lose concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell utilizing your Wisdom in this case.) As a bonus action, you can move your duplicate up to a distance equal to your walking speed that you can see, as long as it is within 150 feet of you. You can attack through your duplicate as if you were in its space, but you must use your own senses. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to trade places with your duplicate.

Acidic Mastery

The training to control your corrosive element has enabled you to better harness its energy. You now have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks. When a creature is subjected to your Retaliatory Acid, you can burn an additional ki point to impose the following affects onto the target creature:

  • The creature can not take reactions.
  • It's movement is reduced to half.
  • It can only take an action OR its bonus action on its turn.

Additionally, when you utilize Acidic Convergence, you are resistant to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage until the start of your next turn. You also have learned how to better use your Step of the Wind ability; when you use your Step of the Wind ability, you can spend an additional ki point to force up to 2 creatures of your choice within 5 feet of you to take 2d8 acid damage and make a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki Save DC. On a failure, their speed is reduced to 0 and they have disadvantage on attacks.

Corrosion Incarnate

You have gained complete control of your corrosive element. Upon studying oozes and copper dragons, and their corrosive natures, you have obtained blindsight out to 10 feet in all directions. As an action, you can spend 4 ki points and cause your body to assume the amorphous qualities of an ooze. For the next minute, you (along with any equipment you're wearing or carrying) can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. You also gain the ability to corrode up to 30 square feet of nonorganic material as an action a day. Additionally, as a bonus action, you can cause an aura of corrosive energy to surround you out to 30 feet. As an action, you can spend 5 ki points to deal 2d10 acid damage to up to 3 creatures of your choice within your aura. You regain hit points equal to half the total damage dealt, plus an additional amount of temporary hit points equal to the amount of creatures targeted. Each creature that is targeted must make a Constitution saving throw against your Ki Save DC as the corrosive energy begins to corrode their internal organs. On a failure, the creature takes one roll of your Martial Arts die at the start of its turn, and it can repeat the save at the end of its turn.
