Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

There are many a mage who rely on deep study of one of the arcane schools to specialize their magical craft, and others who have learned to complement their esoteric knowledge of their trade with martial ability. Then there are those niche magi, the rare few who find a more select branch of application for their arcane arts to specialize into, spreading into a variety of more singular professions than mere wizard, from those artisans who design and imbue items with magical abilities, to wandmakers of renown, to legendary weaponsmiths and armorers, to powerful and clandestine ritualists and runemakers. One of the lesser known specializations of wizard, though, are those who have taken the material knowledge of certain spellcasting components, precious gemstones and rare jewels, and employ them in specially-designed crowns. They are known as Majesters, royal magi of such glittering renown that they draw adoration and wonderment from near and far, both for their appearances and their achievements.

Majestic Presence

At 2nd level, your resplendent and majestic appearance ensures that when you speak, people will at least feign interest. You gain proficiency in Persuasion.

Crown of the Majester

Starting at 2nd level, you carefully complete the extensive ritual necessary to forge your item of power. A silver or golden crown, circlet or tiara is crafted with a number of sockets equal to your Intelligence modifier. Choose a gemstone from the choices below (they are numbered, if you would rather roll for a beginning gemstone). Unless otherwise stated, the gemstones may each be used a number of times per day equal to your Intelligence modifier.

Socketing a gemstone to the Crown requires a suitable gem worth at least 50gp and a long rest. Likewise, gemstones can be removed freely during a long rest. The Crown is considered a magical item attuned to you, and only functions when you are wearing it. Should it be lost or destroyed, it can be reforged for 10gp during a long rest, though it will require new gemstones.

Amber of Dawn (1)

At the start of your turn, you may choose to activate or deactivate the Amber. While activated, cast a bright light in a 10-foot cone and dim light for an additional 10-foot cone. This may be active for a number of hours equal to your Intelligence modifier.

Amethystine of Soothing (2)

At the start of any turn you find yourself under a mind-affecting spell or ability, you may activate the Amethyst to make the appropriate saving throw against the effect.

Diamond of the Adamant (3)

As a reaction to incoming damage, you may activate the Diamond of the Adamant to reduce the damage by your intelligence modifier.

Lapis Lazuli of Focus (5)

The Lapis Lazuli of Focus, when cast prior to a ritual spell, will store that ritual spell for later use. This gemstone may only be used once a day, and may store a ritual spell of a level equal to or less than your Intelligence modifier.

Living Jade (4)

As a bonus action, you may activate the Living Jade to regain 1d6 plus your Intelligence modifier hit points.

Opal of Protection (6)

As a reaction to a saving throw, you may activate the Opal of Protection to add your Intelligence modifier to the result.

Ruby of Roiling Power (7)

You may activate the Ruby of Roiling Power as a bonus action to empower your next damaging cantrip. Treat that cantrip as though it were cast at the next proficiency level.

Sapphire of Breathing (8)

Upon activating the Sapphire of Breathing, you may hold your breath for an additional number of minutes equal to your Intelligence modifier.

Resplendence

Your dazzling crown of jeweled resplendor glitters brightly and flickers gloriously, and your spellcraft seems to catch this gleaming light as well. Once you've activated a gemstone, your next targeted spell causes a localized flash of light. Creatures of your choice within 10 feet of your spell's target must make a Dexterity save. On a failed save, they are blinded until the end of their turns.

Distracting Bedazzlement

Beginning at 10th level, you find yourself able to further concentrate the magical properties of your gemstones into a sudden flare of distracting arcane energy. By spending two uses of any of your Crown's gemstones upon casting a reactive Abjuration spell, you may empower that spell. It must be a singular gemstone with at least two uses.

Absorb Elements: The energy gathers more of the errant elemental power. Instead of empowering your next successful melee attack, your next successful attack deals additional damage of the triggering type.

Counterspell: The energy spikes out like a jolting flare. If the Counterspell requires a roll, make it with advantage.

Shield: The Shield flickers and distorts strangely. For the remainder of the Shield spell, attack rolls against you have disadvantage.

Royal Majesty

At 14th level, your splendrous crown has afforded you remarkable protections against those forces that might waylay your majestic presence. Choose one of your gemstones at the end of a long rest. Until your next long rest, the effects of that gemstone are considered at will, rather than their typical usage. In addition, gain a resistance in accordance with the Royal Majesty of your choosing.

Amber: Radiant

Amethyst: Psychic

Diamond: Non-magical Bludgeoning/Piercing/Slashing.

Jade: Poison

Lapis Lazuli: Cold

Opal: Necrotic

Ruby: Fire

Sapphire: Acid
