Focusing on daggers, monks who follow the way of the flying blade focus on throwing daggers rather than any sort of melee combat. They can throw daggers with amazing speed and precision, some even learning to channel their ki to make their daggers more powerful

Master of thrown daggers

Starting when you choose this tradition at third level, your experience using daggers grants you the following benefits

  • you can draw a dagger as part of the attack action.
  • attacking at long range with a dagger does not impose disadvantage
  • For monk features; such as martial arts, flurry of blows, or stunning strike, which require unarmed stikes can be replaced with thrown dagger attacks 

Aimed shot

At level 11 you learn to hit a targets weak points. Whenever you hit with a thrown dagger attack, you can spend a number of Ki points up to a fifth of your monk level rounded down. For each ki point spent this way, you can add a d4 of the daggers damage type to the damage roll. At level 17 the dice upgrades to a d6

Enhanced Daggers

You have learned to charge your daggers using your ki.  Starting at level 6, thrown dagger attacks you make count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. In addition to this, whenever you take the attack action, you can spend 1 ki point to cause non magical daggers you throw this get +1 to attack and damage rolls. This upgrades to +2 at level 11 and +3 at level 17

Flurry of daggers

Starting at level 17, whenever you make a thrown dagger attack, and have nothing in your off hand, you can throw two daggers at once. They can not benefit from the aimed shot feature unless both daggers attack the same target.
