Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Wizards are known for delving deep into ancient arcane lore, but few have taken the plunge into the stygian depths just beyond the veil. Tradition of Madness wizards are those that have delved too deep, sought power too obscure and twisted to comprehend, and come out the other side alive. With a greater understanding of madness and the folds of reality, these wizards have a control over the mind that has never before been seen among arcane masters.

Madness Savant

At 2nd level, you gain the ability to change a spell's damage type to psychic damage a number of times equal to half your proficiency modifier (rounded up).

Additionally, whenever you deal psychic damage, you deal additional psychic damage equal to half your wizard level.

Hardening Mind

As a bonus action, you can target a creature within 30 feet. The creature has disadvantage on saving throws made against effects created by you (spells, class features, etc.) until the end of its next turn. Until the end of your next turn, the creature gains resistance against all damage dealt by you, except for psychic damage.

You can use this ability once per short rest.

Entropic Thoughts

Starting at 6th level, your mind begins to unravel and spread beyond the boundaries of your own head.

Choose two of the following when you finish a long rest, you can use any combination of those abilities a number of times equal to 1 + your intelligence modifier.

  • You can use a bonus action to gain blindsight out to 30 feet for 1 hour.
  • You can use a bonus action to telepathically communicate with a creature that you know is within 30 feet, regardless of whether or not you can see them. The creature can understand you regardless of known languages, provided it has an intelligence score of 1 or higher.
  • As an action, choose a creature within 30 feet. That creature must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be stunned until the end of your next turn.

Of the Hardening Mind feature: You can use this ability two times per short rest.

Impenetrable Madness

Starting at 10th level, your mind is alien to any that would attempt to modify it to their will.

You gain advantage on savings throws against spells that would attempt to read your mind or influence your behavior (such as detect thoughts, modify memory, zone of truth, or suggestion.)

Once per short rest, you can use a reaction to give yourself advantage on wisdom saving throws for one round, ending at the end of your next turn. You can choose to do this after rolling the first die.

Your control over the minds of others grows. Of the Hardening Mind feature: the disadvantage ends at the end of your next turn, and the resistance ends at the end of its next turn. You can use this ability three times per short rest.

You become adept at selecting the right threads of thought to completely unweave a creature's mind. Whenever you deal psychic damage against a targeted creature, they must roll a wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, they suffer a random effect on the short-term madness table until the end of your next turn. On a success, they become immune to this feature for 24 hours.

Shattering Mind

At 14th level, your mind begins to break under the weight of the umbral knowledge you've subjected yourself to. Your understanding of the world expands in ways unforeseen, and you gain insight into things you previously never would have known. You gain a +2 in two intelligence skills of your choice. You get a -2 in one charisma skill and one wisdom skill of your choice.

Your mind continues to spread thinly across your surroundings:

All ranges described in the Entropic Thoughts feature are increased to 60 feet.

As an action, you can plant seeds of madness into your allies. For 8 hours, you can telepathically communicate with a number of creatures equal to your proficiency modifier. The creatures must be within 60 feet of you when you use this ability, but you can communicate with them across any distances, once activated. When used, you cannot use this ability again until the end of a long rest.
