Base Class: Paladin
Restriction: Adept (Earth) or Adept (Fire) Background only
The Berserker follows in the footsteps of Zagan, son of Venus and Mars. As such, only Adepts with a natural affinity for fire or earth magic will succeed as a Berserker.
The ancient tales speak of Zagan, one of the first Adepts, and the son of Venus and Mars. A master of combat, Zagan was unmatched on the battlefield. According to the legends, Zagan led the effort to banish evil from the world forever. The Berserker emulates Zagan, attacking with fire and earth magic that devastates opponents.
TEACHINGS OF ZAGAN
The teachings of the hero Zagan have been preserved by the people of The Vale for countless centuries.
Victory Above All. I will do anything to win a battle. To lose is the greatest shame.
No Mercy for the Wicked. Worthy foes might be shown mercy, but evil must be destroyed.
Restitution. If my foes wreak ruin on the world, it is because I failed to stop them. I must help those harmed by their misdeeds.
Channel Divinity
At 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Searing Weapon. As an action, you can imbue one weapon that you are holding with fiery energy, using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, you add your Charisma modifier to attack rolls made with that weapon (with a minimum bonus of +1). The weapon also emits bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light 20 feet beyond that. If the weapon is not already magical, it becomes magical for the duration.
You can end this effect on your turn as part of any other action. If you are no longer holding or carrying this weapon, or if you fall unconscious, this effect ends.
Wrathful Vow. As a bonus action, you can utter a wrathful vow against a creature you can see within 10 feet of you, using your Channel Divinity. You gain advantage on attack rolls against the creature for 1 minute or until it drops to 0 hit points or falls unconscious.
Berserker Spells
You gain additional spells at the paladin levels listed.

Impactful Aura
Starting at 7th level, you and any allies within 10 feet of you are empowered by your earth magic. Whenever you or an ally in range makes a damage roll for a weapon attack or a spell that deals bludgeoning damage, increase the bludgeoning damage dealt by your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1). A creature can benefit from this feature from only one paladin at a time.
At 18th level, the range of the aura increases to 30 feet.
Iron Resistance
Starting at 15th level, your earth magic defends you from physical harm. You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.
Embodiment of Zagan
At 20th level, you gain the ability to harness extraordinary martial prowess. As an action, you can embody the spirit of Zagan, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- You have resistance to all damage.
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one additional attack as part of that action.
- Your melee weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Posted May 22, 2024This was intended to be a part of a self-contained set of subclasses that would go together for a campaign I was running, so, yeah, I did borrow heavily from official material.
