College of Shanties

As the waves crash and the storm rages around the ship, the crew scrambles to save both the ship and their lives. Piercing through the raging winds, a sharp horn sounds as a tortle crewman blows into a bagpipe. He begins to stomp on the deck, creating a rhythm that echoes through the ship to all of the crew. Slowly, each sailor joins in on the shanty as it steadily begins to drown out the surrounding typhoon. Soon, the ship is alive with song, and the crew eagerly braces themselves to weather the worst of the storm.

A bard of the College of Shanties is a proponent of strong rhythm and camaraderie. A bard of this college finds strength in large numbers, unifying groups to do incredible deeds with a smile on their face.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Shanties at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with vehicles (water), as well as with a tool set of your choice. You also learn a language of your choice.

Crew Song

Also at 3rd level, the songs and tales you sing inspire others to join in. When you give a creature one of your Bardic Inspiration dice, you can allow a number of additional creatures within 30 feet of you equal to your proficiency bonus that can hear you to use their reaction to gain a copy of that die. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

In the Round

At 6th level, those who join in to your songs become bolstered with the voice of the crew. When a creature makes an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, another creature within 30 feet that has one of your Bardic Inspiration dice can use their reaction to add it to the that creature's roll.

Mighty Shanty

Starting at 14th level, your songs gain power the more people that partake in them. You and each creature that has one of your Bardic Inspiration dice gain a +1 bonus to saving throws for each other creature within 15 feet that also has one of your Bardic Inspiration dice.

Additionally, whenever a creature uses one of your Bardic Inspiration dice, they gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the number rolled on the inspiration die.
