Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The Devil Soul sorcerer’s innate magic comes from the infernal powers of the nine layers of Hell. Sorcerers of this origin may trace their magic back to a devil ancestor, they could be the descendant of an accursed deal, they were exposed to Hellfire that corrupted their magic, or they were born under the conditions of a dark prophecy. The most common creatures born of this origin are Tieflings, due to their strong infernal bloodline.

Consider the importance of the origin of your character’s innate magic and how it might affect them. Was it from a specific type of devil? Do they know where their magic comes from? How does it affect their relationships with those around them?

Arcane Damnation

Starting at 1st level, your learn the Vicious Mockery and Produce Flame cantrips. These cantrips count as Sorcerer cantrips for you and they don’t count against the numbers of sorcerer cantrips known.

When your Spellcasting feature lets you learn or replace a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, you can choose the new spell from the warlock spell list or the sorcerer spell list. You must otherwise obey all other restrictions for selecting the spell, and it becomes a sorcerer spell for you.

In addition, you learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Arcane Damnation Spells table. These count as Sorcerer spells for you, but do not count against the number of spells you know. These spells cannot be replaced.

Wicked Heritage

Starting at 1st level, your innate magic grants you fiendish knowledge. You can speak, read, and write Infernal and Abyssal. Additionally, whenever you make a Charisma check when interacting with fiends, your proficiency bonus is doubled if it applies to the check.

Veil of the Damned

Starting at 6th level, you’re able to connect with the infernal magic that lies within your soul and unleash Hell in a devilish form. As a bonus action, you transform for 1 minute and take on supernatural features of a devil. These features may include horns, fiery hair, clawed nails, elongated canine teeth, unnatural skin tones, slit pupils or solid colored eyes, etc. You may choose features closely associated with your fiendish heritage. You gain the following benefits:

  • You are considered a Fiend while in this form.
  • You gain advantage on Charisma(intimidation) ability checks on creatures that are not fiends and gain advantage on Charisma(persuasion) ability checks with fiends.
  • Your AC increases by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier(minimum of one).
  • When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + Sorcerer level.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Path Through Hell

Starting at 14th level, you’ve gained the ability to instantly traverse between the nine layers of Hell. As a bonus action, you can spend 2 sorcery points and teleport to an unoccupied space that you can see within 60 feet of you.
Additionally, if you use this ability while your Veil of the Damned feature is active, each creature within 5 feet of where you teleport must make a dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. A target takes fire damage equal to 1d6 + your proficiency bonus on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful save, as you drag infernal flames back from the nine layers of Hell.

Devil Unleashed

Starting at 18th level, while your Veil of the Damned feature is active, you gain the additional following benefits:

  • You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons that are not silvered.
  • You gain immunity from fire and poison damage and cannot be poisoned.
  • You gain 60 feet of darkvision and magical darkness doesn’t impede your darkvision.
  • When you use your Path Through Hell feature or cast sorcerer cantrips or spells that causes fire, necrotic, poison, or psychic damage, add your charisma modifier to the total damage.
