Base Class: Monk
White Assassins, colloquially known as the Assassins in White, have learned to combust their Ki into an ethereal substance known as Stormlight, which can be channeled in two different forms, known as Divine Surges. Adhesion, the Surge that Binds, and Gravitation, the Surge that Pulls.
Using Adhesion, White Assassins can create swaths of glowing Stormlight that adhere to anything that touches them, essentially locking a creature out of combat for entire minutes of precious time. They can also use it in less combat-oriented methods, such as sticking handholds onto otherwise smooth surfaces to facilitate a climbable environment.
Using Gravitation, White Assassins can alter the basic pull of gravity on a creature or object, decreasing or eliminating weight altogether, or going so far as to send an object hurtling at high speeds towards enemies. They can also decrease their own weight, increasing their acrobatic ability and gracefully gliding through the air at the expense of physical strength.
White Assassins are named aptly, as they are often found at the scene of some brutal killing of nobility, their ability to circumvent all but the most fortified of defenses with ease making them valuable to any nobleman with powerful enemies. Their signature weapon of choice is the rapier, in honor of the weapon used by the first White Assassin, the man who learned to synthesize Stormlight from his own Ki. His teachings are carefully guarded by his disciples, and often only employed by the most capable warriors of the many nomadic tribes that pay homage to his name. These are known as the Szethari, though to the unlearned they often appear to be simple humans, often integrating with others of the human race to remain hidden.
The Surge of Gravitation
Using the reservoir of Ki within you, you can access the Surge of Gravitation within an object or creature. You can alter the direction gravity pulls on an object or creature using 1 Ki point for every 100 pounds of weight affected. Additionally, you can choose how much weight is affected under the 100-pound limit. For every extra 100 pounds, you must expend another Ki point. As with the first, you can choose what quantity of weight is affected, such as two 100 pound Ki points and one 30 pound Ki point to eliminate the weight of a 230 pound object. At 11th level, each Ki point can be used for 200 pounds of weight rather than 100.
Alternatively, you can expend Ki points that total double the weight of an object or creature, sending it hurtling in the direction you choose at high speeds. This object acts as if under the influence of the Catapult spell, regardless of the weight limitations of the spell. Every Ki point spent past the necessary weight limit increases the damage by 1d8, to a maximum of 10d8. At 17th level, the maximum is removed.
Stormlight Flight
You can expend a Ki point to alter your own weight, which can be used in one of three ways.
Flight: Expending the necessary Ki points per pound (i.e. 3 ki points for a 200-pound character,) you can alter your gravitational pull to propel you through the air as if falling. You may do so for five minutes for every Ki point used to this end, traveling at a speed equal to 5 times your WIS modifier miles per hour. You may also choose to expend another Ki point to double your speed for five minutes. Additionally, you may alter the direction of your flight up to 3 times your WIS modifier for every Ki point you spend, allowing for some maneuverability.
Weightlessness: Expending the necessary Ki points per pound, you can alter half of your weight to pull upward, making yourself weightless. While weightless your AC becomes 0, but any slashing or bludgeoning damage, as well as spells or abilities that could push you back, fling you a distance equal to the attack's damage times 15 in feet, negating all nonmagical damage dealt to you in this manner (magical damage is negated in this manner at level 11). If you were to crash into an object before reaching the relevant distance thrown, make a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check to contest the initial to-hit roll. On success, you take one quarter (rounded down) of the attack's initial damage, and on fail you take half the initial damage. If you were to hit a creature in this manner, the creature must succeed on either a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check or a Strength Saving Throw against the to-hit roll of the initial attack or be knocked prone, taking quarter damage on a success and half damage on a fail. At 11th level, you automatically pass the Dexterity (Acrobatics) check and take no damage.
Reduced Weight: Expending the necessary Ki points per round, you can alter a quarter of your weight's gravitational pull to half your overall weight for one minute. This allows you to add half of your Dexterity (Acrobatics) modifier to your AC (not stacking any DEX AC increases) while halving your Strength modifier (-2 if the modifier is negative.) All rolls and modifiers requiring Strength are affected accordingly and made with disadvantage. Your Dexterity (Acrobatics) modifier is doubled for the duration (+2 if the modifier is negative.) At 11th level, the AC bonus is increased to your full Dexterity (Acrobatics) modifier (still not stacking DEX AC increases.) Additionally, if you were to be thrown by an attack or ability, you are thrown twice as far.
Stormlight Recall
As an action, you may touch one creature or object you have imbued with Stormlight (any target of the Surge of Gravitation or Pool of Stormlight is considered imbued) and draw Stormlight back into your body. You cannot use this feature if the Stormlight has been active for more than one minute. When used, roll a percentile die. On a roll of 76% or higher, the recall is considered a success and you regain 1 Ki point. Repeat this roll once for each Ki point imbued in your target.
At 11th level, 51% is considered a success, and at 17th 26%.
The Surge of Adhesion
As an action, you may use a Ki point to create a pool of Stormlight 5ft by 5ft on any creature or object you touch for one minute. This area increases by 5 feet for every Ki point expended. The duration can be doubled by doubling the amount of Ki points used. Any object that touches this pool is Adhered and requires a DC 25 Strength (Athletics) check to be ripped off. If the object's AC is exceeded by the athletics check, it breaks off at the contact point instead of coming free. Any creature that comes into contact with the pool must make a Dexterity Saving Throw with disadvantage or be Adhered for the duration of the pool. Any Adhered creature is considered prone, though ranged attacks are made with advantage against it. Depending on what parts of the creature touched the pool, it may also be considered incapacitated (i.e. a goblin with its feet Adhered can still make attacks with 0 movement speed, but a human thrown into the pool Adhered by the entire front of their body is unable to do anything.) An Adhered creature can make a DC 25 Strength (Athletics) check to escape, repeated on every turn in initiative. You are unaffected by the pool. At 17th level, the range of this pool is doubled per Ki point, and any creature adhered is incapable of escaping.
Reverse Lashing
As an action, you may expend 2 Ki to perform a Reverse Lashing on an object or creature you can touch, lasting 30 seconds. Any ranged attack made against you while you are within 10 feet of the Lashed object is made with disadvantage. On a failed to-hit roll, the projectile slams into the Lashed object, dealing normal damage to the object. Ranged attacks made against the object are made with advantage. At 17th level, the duration is increased to one minute, and the Ki cost reduced to 1.
Improved Stormlight capabilities
Your mastery of Stormlight has made your body more efficient in its use, granting the following effects:
The maximum weight affected per Ki point is increased to 200.
You can double the speed of your Stormlight Flight without expending a Ki point if you so choose.
Your number of flight adjustments for Stormlight Flight is upgraded to 5 times your Wisdom Modifier (5 if your modifier is negative.)
You automatically pass the saving throw for being thrown while weightless and take no damage from impact.
Your AC while at half weight is increased by your entire Dexterity (Acrobatics) modifier (not stacking any AC bonus from natural DEX.)
Stormlight Mastery
You have completely mastered the use of Stormlight, and your body operates at peak efficiency when using synthesizing Stormlight from Ki. You gain the following effects:
Throwing an object or creature as if by Catapult through the use of Surge of Gravitation no longer has a damage dice maximum.
In order to succeed on a Stormlight Recall percentile roll, you may roll as low as 26%.
The area per Ki point of Surge of Adhesion is increased to 10 feet, and creatures trapped in a Stormlight pool cannot make a Strength (Athletics) check to escape.
