Base Class: Monk
Ki is the energy that suffuses the multiverse, and 'the Force' is what binds an individual's ki to all other living matter. A monk who follows the Way of the Force is sensitive to this mystic connection and will study the four aspects of Force energy: the Living, the Unifying, the Cosmic and the Physical. Those who are Force-sensitive must be of disciplined mind, lest they find themselves corrupted by the enticing lure of untold power.
Force Mysticism
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast detect thoughts, hold person, levitate or suggestion, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the mage hand cantrip if you don’t already know it, and you can choose to make the hand invisible when you summon it.
Push and Pull
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to influence the Physical Aspect of the Force over others. As a bonus action, you can try to telekinetically shove one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your Ki DC or be moved 5 feet toward you or away from you. A creature can willingly fail this save. If an unwilling creature fails this save by more than five, they are also knocked prone.
Ki-Saber
At 6th level, you gain the ability to infuse ki into your monk weapons, projecting a destructive blade of force energy. As a bonus action, you can spend one ki point to ignite your monk weapon with energy for one minute, shedding bright light out to a distance of 10 feet and dim light for another 10 feet. While this feature is active, the affected monk weapon now deals force damage, and you add an additional Martial Arts dice worth of damage to attacks made with this weapon. The effect disperses at the end of the turn if you are not wielding the weapon. Thereafter, while the feature persists, you can use a bonus action to recall the weapon to your hand. This feature can only be activated with material weapons and cannot be used with unarmed strikes.
Resilient Mind
At 11th level, your thoughts can’t be read by telepathy or other means unless you allow it. You also have resistance to psychic damage.
Mystic Reflex
At 11th level you learn to exert your ki to assist with social and environmental challenges. When making any acrobatics, animal handling, athletics, deception or insight ability check, you can use your reaction to spend 1 ki point and gain proficiency for that roll. If you are already proficient with that skill, you may double your proficiency bonus for that roll.
Precognitive Intuition
Your discipline to the force has heightened your subconscious senses and reflexes. Starting at 17th level, you gain the following features.
- You gain a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your wisdom modifier.
- You can no longer be surprised by hostile creatures.
- You gain blindsight out to a reach of 15 feet.
- When you would make a bonus action unarmed strike using your Martial Arts or Flurry of Blows features, you can instead make a melee weapon attack using your Ki-Saber.
