Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Most mages spend their entire lives locked away in magical towers and libraries, studying the very nature of magic to gain power and unravel the essences of the universe, but what of the magically gifted that, as children, crave knowledge all the while dreaming of heroes in shining armor? What of the mages that prefer the call of battle and the blaring horns of war? It is from that call, for that purpose, that barrier mages pursue magic. Practitioners of arcane arts dissimilar to their peers in their studies, barrier mages do not scorn learning from books, instead choosing to focus their efforts and talent on protecting others and fighting on the battlefield. While still fully capable of casting spells of a great variety like any other wizard, a barrier mages talents lie in their ability to defend themselves and others in combat. While still not as hardy as many barbarians and fighters, no barrier mage worth their salt would fall to attacks of a lesser caliber, capable of and often closing the distance between themselves and their opponents to cast spells from up close or afar while protecting their allies from harm all the same.
