Monk
Base Class: Monk

Taijutsu is a basic form of fighting and refers to any techniques involving the martial arts or the optimization of natural human abilities. Taijutsu is executed by directly accessing the user's physical and mental energies, relying on the stamina and strength gained through training. It typically does not require magic though Ki may be used to enhance its techniques. Taijutsu on a basic level generally requires no Ki to perform, occasionally making use of certain stances or poses, and at later stages uses ki to enhance ones strength. Taijutsu is, simply put, the highest tier of hand-to-hand combat.

Sprouting Lotus

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you choose to push your body past its normal boundaries. As a bonus action on your turn you may choose to gain one of the following benefits for one minute, once you have done so you can not choose again until you have finished a short rest. You may choose an additional effect at level 11 and level 17:

  • Your movement speed is increased by 10 feet (this increases to 15 feet at level 11 and 20 feet at level 17)
  • When making a flurry of blows attack against an opponent they must make a constitution saving throw or take an additional 1D4 bludgeoning from the attack (this increases to 1D6 at level 11 and 1D8 at level 17)
  • As long as you end and begin each turn with the move action you become a blur to your foes as the first attack against you each round is made with disadvantage

Primary Lotus

At 6th level, you gain the ability to push yourself past normal physical limits. When you hit a creature currently effected by the stunned condition with an unarmed strike you may choose to use the Primary Lotus technique, once you have used this ability you can not use it again until you finish a long rest (this becomes twice per long rest at level 11 and three times at level 17).

Primary Lotus: Upon hitting this enemy you push them 20 feet into the air (if this is blocked by an obstacle the creature stops their movement and take an extra 1D6 damage) You then drive the enemy into the ground doing 3D6 damage. During Primary Lotus you may choose to expend a number of Hit dice equal to half of your monk level rounded down and add them to the damage inflicted.

Branching Lotus

Beginning at 11th level, when you use your Primary Lotus ability your hit dice spent are counted as D10 for the sake of damage (This increases to 1D12 at level 17).

Death Lotus

At 17th level, you gain the ability to strengthen your Sprouting Lotus into the Death Lotus. When you use the Sprouting Lotus ability you maybe choose to spend 5 ki points to enhance it even further. While under the effect of the death lotus you gain the following abilities as well as those from Sprouting Lotus:

  • When you make an unarmed strike they hit with enough force to create shock waves, increasing your unarmed strike range to 10 feet
  • Your mind has overcome your physical limits as such you can use your Wisdom modifier in place of your Strength modifier when making Strength checks and Strength saving throws
  • When you jump you can make an (Athletics) check and extend your jump by a number of feet equal to the check’s total.
