Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Weaver Breaker understand that magic, of any discipline, is terribly dangerous when wielded by those of impure intentions. They have trained their bodies and minds to see even the very fabric of the weave, allowing them to observe and disrupt the magic conjured by their foes. Monks that follow this tradition are the bane of spellcasters everywhere, and will often send even the strongest wizards into a panic upon meeting their fists in battle.
Martial Antimagic
Your training has taught you how to channel your ki in a way that allows you to interact with magic in its untapped form. When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain access to the following powers, usable only while you are unarmed or wielding only monk weapons and you aren’t wearing armor or wielding a shield:
Perceive the Weave. You are able to, as a bonus action, gain the benefits of the detect magic spell without casting the spell or requiring concentration, lasting until you dismiss it as a bonus action or are knocked unconscious. This benefit cannot be removed by any dispelling or antimagic effects and does not count as a spell. If you cast a spell, the magic channelled through your body disrupts the flow of your ki and you lose the effects of this magic. Your pupils glow bright white while using this power.
Disrupting Strike. You know how to fill your strikes with ki in a way that disrupts the magic of your foes. Upon landing an unarmed strike, you may spend 1 ki point to attempt to disrupt your target’s magic. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become unable to cast magic for 1 minute. A target may not concentrate on spells or other effects while affected in this manner. The target may repeat this save at the end of each of its turns. Disrupting Strike cannot be used on a Stunning Strike.
Weave Break
At 6th level, when you are targeted by a spell or magical effect, you may attempt to break the magic being woven around you. As a reaction, you may spend 2 ki points and attempt a Wisdom check to achieve one of the following effects:
- You cancel a single target spell or magical effect that targets you.
- You deflect a line spell or magical effect up to 90 degrees away from you in a direction you choose from a space within 5 feet of you.
- You cause your space to be unaffected by a cone, sphere, cylinder or cube spell or magical effect. Your space acts as a solid obstruction to the spell, potentially protecting further spaces away from the spell's point of origin.
The DC of the required Wisdom check is 10 + the spell's level, or 10 + half the CR of the creature causing the effect. If no creature is causing the effect, the DC is decided by the Dungeon Master.
Improved Martial Antimagic
By level 11, your training has increased the powers of your martial antimagic.
- While you are under the effects of your Perceive the Weave power, you gain advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects that you are able to see.
- When you use Disrupting Strike, you can spend 1 additional ki point to end one spell effect of 3rd level or lower on the creature regardless of if they succeed on their saving throw. You may alternatively spend 1 ki point to end a spell effect of 3rd level or lower on a willing creature as a bonus action. At level 17, this effect can remove spells of 5th level or lower.
Magic Subversion
At level 17, you learn how to harness the magic that foes seek to use against you and turn it back upon them. After using your Weave Break power successfully, the first unarmed strike that hits before the end of your next turn forces the target to suffer the effects of the spell you used Weave Break on as if they had been the original target. Replace any Dexterity saving throws the target would be subjected to with Constitution saving throws.
