Base Class: Monk
Masters of martial arts, Star Gladiators wear the power of the cosmos, fight under the light of the Sun, Moon and Stars.
Most Star Gladiator abilities are tied to the cosmic entities, granting their unmatched power to the dedicated.
According to beliefs, and a popular poem told among masters of the art, on even days, the Sun shines brightest, on odd days the Moon grants dreams most comforting, and every fifth day, the Stars are to fulfill our very wishes.
Their powers are tied to the Sun, Moon and Stars, based on 4 different cosmic conditions.
- Whether they had visited the Palace of the Sun, Moon or Stars, and how long ago.
- Whether they are fighting enemies marked by the Hatred of the Sun, Moon or Stars.
- Whether the Sun, Moon or Stars are in an unusually powerful position along their path, referred to as Days of Power of the Sun, Moon or Stars.
- Whether they are under the open sky or not.
The Days of Power can be determined by calendar dates.
- Even days are Days of Power of the Sun.
- Odd days are Days of Power of the Moon.
- Multiples of 5 are Days of Power of the Stars.
Some of these overlap. According to these rules, the 10th, 20th and 30th day of every month are Days of Power of both the Sun and Stars, while the 5th, 15th and 25th are Days of Power of the Moon and Stars both.

Solar, Lunar and Stellar Perception
Cosmic mark
You can permanently mark different places as a Palace of the Sun, Moon or Stars, one for each. All 3 places must be under the open sky, and have to be visible by the cosmic entity while being marked. (Daytime for the Sun Palace, Nighttime for the Moon and Star Palaces, not covered by clouds, fog or magical barriers.)
These abilities are referred to as Solar Perception to mark the Palace of the Sun, then Lunar Perception to mark the Palace of the Moon, and Stellar Perception to mark the Palace of the Stars.
The palace has to be at least 20 ft x 20 ft and maximum 75 ft x 75 ft in size, in a geometrical shape of your choosing. They usually take the form and depict the respective cosmic entity.
You have to spend at least 1 hour meditating in the middle of the chosen place to mark it, while being lit by the light of the respective cosmic entity. Most Star Gladiators mark at least one of the Palaces in their home monastery, which is the center of their community and main base of operations.
After they are marked, the Palaces will always be covered by the light of their cosmic entity. Warm sunlight of daytime in the Palace of the Sun, bright moonlight of full moon in the Palace of the Moon, and the twinkling light of the stars in the Palace of the Stars. This remains true regardless of any weather conditions or magical effects.
This effect cannot be dispelled. It only ends, when the Star Gladiator who marked them dies.

Hatred of the Sun, Moon and Stars
Cosmic mark
You can permanently mark 3 different creature types or races with the Hatred of the Sun, Moon and Stars, one for each. You can choose character, beastial and monstrous races aswell.
These 3 abilities are referred to as Hatred of the Sun, Hatred of the Moon, and Hatred of the Stars.
It takes one action to place a mark of Hatred, and you have to meet an individual of the given race and size. The marks are not felt or perceived by the targets.
The Hatred of the Sun must target a race that is typically considered Small sized. Any specific creature of the chosen race, but not of Small size is not marked by the Hatred.
The Hatred of the Moon must target a race that is typically considered Medium sized. Any specific creature of the chosen race, but not of Medium size is not marked by the Hatred.
The Hatred of the Stars must target a race that is typically considered Large sized. Any specific creature of the chosen race, but not of Large size is not marked by the Hatred.
Against a creature marked by Hatred of the Sun, Moon or Stars, your unarmed attacks can do fire, cold or radiant damage respectively.
When fighting an enemy marked by the Hatred of any cosmic entity, on a Day of Power of that entity, you can do one additional unarmed attack to them on each of your turns, if you took the attack action and hit them at least once during the turn.
The mark is permanent, it only ends when the Star Gladiator who marked them dies.

Heat of the Sun
Cosmic ability of the Sun
The sun's power is omnipresent. The Sun’s light can't reach the most shadowed caves and alleys, yet, their warmth will find its way to help those in need.
On a Day of Power of the Sun, if you’ve been to the Palace of the Sun in the last 48 hours, and you are not under the open sky, you can use up all your remaining Ki points, at least 3, to activate Solar Heat as an action. You regain the use of this ability at dawn.
If there is an entrance to the open sky (doorway, window, etc) in your proximity that is not heavily obscured or blocked, then in regards to this ability, you are considered under the open sky, and so you cannot use this ability.
Solar Heat:
For 5 minutes, you are enveloped in a fiery aura, damaging and knocking back any creature within your melee range.
- If you are grappled or restrained by physical means, a grappling creature or object is considered to be on fire, and you gain advantage to break free.
- You gain immunity to fire damage.
- You shed bright light in a 60 feet radius, and dim light in 120 feet radius.
- Any creature entering your melee range takes 1d4 fire damage, and are knocked back 10 feet unless they succeed on a Strength saving throw against your Ki save DC.
- If they succeed DC 10, or use their reaction, they may perform their action before being pushed back.
- A creature marked by the Hatred of the Sun automatically fails their Strength saving throw.
- If the pushback effect happens on your turn, you have to succeed a Dexterity check against your own Ki save DC or use your reaction to be able to perform an action, before the knockback takes place.
- On your turn, all successful pushback uses up 10 feet of your movement. On other creature's turn, pushback does not use up any of your movement.
- A creature cannot take the fire damage multiple times in one round, but they can be pushed back multiple times in one round up until the first time they succeed on the saving throw, after which the aura has no pushback effect on them until your next turn.
- A creature pushed back by this aura can provoke your unarmed attacks of opportunity.
- Opportunity attacks don't use up your reaction, and each round you can take any number of opportunity attacks as long as they target different creatures, meaning you can only hit one creature once per round as an opportunity attack.
- Creatures resistant or immune to fire damage are immune to the knockback effect. Large or heavy enough creatures can't be pushed back by the aura either or take reduced effects of the knockback.

Dreams of the Moon
Cosmic ability of the Moon
The Moon grants sleep and dreams, even to those resting hidden away from it’s light.
On a Day of Power of the Moon, if you’ve been to the Palace of the Moon in the last 48 hours, and you are not under the open sky, you can use up any number of Ki points, at least 3 and a maximum of 8, to cast Lunar Lullaby as an action. You regain the use of this ability at dawn.
If there is an entrance to the open sky (doorway, window, etc) in your proximity that is not heavily obscured or blocked, then in regards to this ability, you are considered under the open sky, and so you cannot use this ability.
Lunar Lullaby:
You can choose up to 5 creatures in a 40 feet radius sphere, centered anywhere in your 80 feet range, and attempt to put them to sleep. All chosen creatures have to succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or fall asleep, the DC being your Ki save DC + the number or Ki points you used for this ability.
You can choose how pleasant the dreams of the sleeping targets are. All targets failing the saving throw are put to sleep for 1 to 8 hours, depending on how pleasant their dreams are. Creatures marked by the Hatred of the Moon will always have nightmares.
They are in a deep sleep, disturbances won't, but taking serious damage wakes up the sleeping targets. Loud noises, and other effects that would trigger survival instincts are highly likely to wake them up, but only after the first 5 minutes passed.
Dreams of the Moon
You now have the ability Dreams of the Moon.

Comfort of the Sun, Moon and Stars
Cosmic boon
Star Gladiators are never lost, for the cosmos is always there to bring them home.
Whenever you witness a shooting star, you gain one use of the cleric class feature Divine Intervention, the Stars being considered your deity. You use your Monk level instead of Cleric level for the intervention.
Whenever you finish a long rest under the open sky, you can choose to wake up in one of the marked Palaces, instead of your original sleeping spot. All of your personal belongings also appear there with you.
When you wake up from a long rest in a cosmic Palace, on a Day of Power of that cosmic entity, you gain the benefits of Comfort. (e.g. You wake up in the Palace of the Sun, on a Day of Power of the Sun.)
Comfort:
You gain temporary hit points equal to half of your maximum health, and temporary proficiency in an ability you are not proficient with that you choose, both lasting while you do all your short and long rests under the open sky. If you lose the temporary hit points, you also lose the temporary proficiency.
You also get additional Ki points, one for every 3 monk levels you have. You cannot refill these additional Ki points when finishing a rest.
Comfort does not stack, which means gaining Comfort again (a second long rest with the conditions fulfilled again) allows you to gain the benefits again while losing all benefits from earlier.
Miracle of the Sun, Moon and Stars
Cosmic boon
When you follow your destiny, you are granted items of power by the cosmos. When you end a creature’s life, a part of their essence might crystallize into Miracle Shards. This is how the cosmos tells you, that the creature’s death has major implications in forming the future. It is uncertain, whether the change is for better or worse.
The Miracle Shards:
- Majestic Sunlight - Miracle Shard of the Sun - Always warm, bright amber colored gemstone
- Sobbing Moonlight - Miracle Shard of the Moon - Always wet, deep yellow colored gemstone
- Marvelous Starlight - Miracle Shard of the Stars - A handful of bright yellow, red and blue colored semi-transparent gemdust
When you deal a killing blow to a creature in combat, you may roll a d20. If you roll a 20 on this roll, you gain a Miracle Shard, depending on which entity’s Day of Power it is. (On a Day of Power of the Sun, you gain the Miracle Shard of the Sun, etc.)
If the killed target was marked by the Hatred of the cosmic entity whose Day of Power it is, you are much more likely to gain their Miracle Shard, in this case you gain the respective shard on 18,19 and 20 rolls.
You cannot have multiple pieces of the same Miracle Shard at once. If you already have the respective Miracle Shard, you don’t roll for this ability.
Whenever you want to use the Star Gladiator cosmic abilities (Heat of the Sun, Dreams of the Moon, and Union of the Stars), but you don’t meet some usage conditions for them, you may use the respective entity’s Miracle Shard as material component to ignore one cosmic condition of that ability, which is consumed by the ability upon cast. You can only ignore one condition with the Miracle Shard, which means you have to pass all other conditions to be able to cast them.
If you were to have all 3 Miracle Shards at once, they immediately combine their power, and grant you the boon Miracle.
Miracle:
For the next 48 hours, you are allowed to use all 3 cosmic abilities once for free (Solar Heat, Lunar Lullaby and Stellar Union). This means that you can ignore all of their usage conditions and Ki point costs when casting them.
- Casting Solar Heat will not use up any Ki points.
- Casting Lunar Lullaby will not use up any Ki points. The saving throw DC is at its highest value, as if you had spent the maximum amount of Ki points to cast it.
- While Stellar Union is active, you can use the attack action without spending additional Ki points, and cast any Union based spells without spending Ki points. You will still take the exhaustion damage afterwards for each Ki point spent from all sources. The free casts of the cosmic abilities are considered to use up 0 Ki points in this regard.
After 48 hours have passed, all of your Miracle Shards are consumed, and the Miracle effect wears off.

Shadow of the Solar Eclipse
Cosmic boon
The whole world goes dark and blind at once. Nothing shows the power of the cosmos more, other than a solar eclipse. During a Solar Eclipse, the Moon and the Sun combine forces to remind us how much of an impact they have on our lives.
Those who embrace the Shadow of the Solar Eclipse, gain the graces and the ability to harness the true power of the Sun and the Moon. When you commit to this ability, a Solar Eclipse occurs.
You may sacrifice your sight in return for perfecting your other senses and gain complete control of your body. For you, it is as if the Solar Eclipse have never ended. If you commit to this ability, you become permanently blinded.
While Union of the Stars is active, you regain some of your vision. You can see the outlines of everything around you, the edges and contours of all objects and creatures are shown to you with the sparkling light of the stars. You can see movement and distance accordingly, and you can recognize objects and creatures based on their forms, but cannot distinct color.
It takes over a month to get used to your new senses, before which you are blind, but don’t have any of the benefits. Every week you learn one of the following benefits. After enough training and practice, you gain all of them.
- You double your proficiency bonus on all perception checks based on touch, hearing, smell, but automatically fail all checks based on sight. If you are not proficient in perception, you gain proficiency in it, but you don't double the bonus.
- Your body is empowered by the cosmos, granting permanent advantage on Strength based checks and saving throws.
- You gain blindsight with a range of 30 feet. This blindsight is not based on sight, it is roughly 60% hearing, 20% gut feeling, 10% smell and 10% tremor sense based.
- While meditating, you get a +10 bonus to your passive perception.
- If you meditate under the open sky for at least 10 minutes, you gain sight in an unlikely manner. You can see yourself centered and your 1000 feet radius from an outside, third person bird’s eye view, sight as the Sun, Moon or Stars would perceive you. All of the landscape is considered well lit either by sunlight or moonlight, but you cannot see into the shadows hidden away. In this state, using 1 Ki point each target, you can mark any number of creatures that you see. All of the targets marked will be considered under the effect of the divination spell Locate Creature, with the exception that it is not a concentration spell when started this way.
- Even though you are blind, you can still see the stars of the night sky, as if it was during a solar eclipse, and they guide you. You always know the direction you are facing, and know where North is.
- You can ritually cast Locate Object, Locate Creature, or Locate Animals and Plants, using 1 Ki point each cast. If the casting is interrupted, the Ki point is lost.
Some of these benefits have to be added to the character sheet manually, due to limitations of the D&D Beyond homebrew tools. Currently #1 cannot be implemented, you have to manually add proficiency or expertise to the perception ability on your character sheet. Since #4 only has an effect while meditating, it is not added to your character sheet.

Union of the Stars
Cosmic ability of the Stars
A star does not bear as much strength, as the Sun or the Moon would. The power of all the Stars combined however, united as one they are to realize our very wishes and dreams.
On a Day of Power of the Stars, if you’ve been to the Palace of the Stars in the last 5 days, and you are not under the open sky, you can cast Stellar Union as an action. You regain the use of this ability at dawn.
If there is an entrance to the open sky (doorway, window, etc) in your proximity that is not heavily obscured or blocked, then in regards to this ability, you are considered under the open sky, and so you cannot use this ability.
Stellar Union:
Keep track of how many Ki points you used while Stellar Union was active.
For up to 1 hour, you are under the following effects.
- You lift off the ground and start levitating. You gain flying speed equal to your unarmored movement speed, and you are under the effects of the abjuration spell Freedom of Movement and the transmutation spell Water Breathing.
- Your eyes shine with the twinkling light of the stars. As part of casting Stellar Union, you can choose to spend 1 Ki point, to activate either the divination spell Comprehend Languages, or the abjuration spell Protection from Energy on yourself, both of which lasts until the end of Stellar Union.
- For 1 Ki point, you can choose to endow your unarmed attacks to deal radiant damage. These choices are part of the Stellar Union action, and don't use up any additional action.
- Your vision blurs, as if reality was just a dream, you can only see the things that your eyes are focused on. You cannot take reactions, unless the target of the reaction is in front of you.
- Even though you are levitating and don’t have anything to hold onto, you can still put weight behind your moves, you are fast enough to make thin air feel solid at your feet, you are quicker and more precise with your attacks.
- You ignore all negative encumbrance effects, and you can lift, push or pull weight with three times as much force. For 1 Ki point, you can enhance your strength, and go with six times as much force rather. It lasts until the end of Stellar Union.
- While Stellar Union is active, all of your attack actions cost 1 Ki point to perform, and all of your unarmed melee attacks automatically hit and deal maximum damage, but cannot do critical damage.
- You do not need to use Ki points to attack a target marked by the Hatred of the Stars.
- If you don’t have any Ki points left, Stellar Union ends automatically.
You can choose to cancel Stellar Union any time on your turn.
One minute after Stellar Union ended, you experience an incredible burst of exhaustion. You gain one point of exhaustion, and you take 1d4 damage for each Ki point spent while Stellar Union was active, considering Ki points spent from all abilities and sources, and additionally 1d4 damage for every 5 minutes you have started while Stellar Union was active.
When this damage would take you below 0 HP, you drop unconscious at 0 health, but you are stabilized. If this has happened, you are unconscious in a state of rest, and you regain your conscience and are considered having completed a long rest after 8 hours of staying in this state. If you do, you will be unsure if the events during Stellar Union were part of a dream or not. After this long rest, you can choose to wake up in one of your cosmic Palaces, even if you were not under the open sky. (Comfort would only allow it, if you were resting under the open sky.)
The Union based spells can be seen on your character sheet for reference, but you have to keep track of Ki points for this ability.
